MODERATOR AT YOUR SERVICE
"If you're going to do something tonight, that you know you'll be sorry for in the morning, plan a lie in." Lorraine
I'm going to Blaby Milonga on the outskirts of Leicester, Saturday night.
hmmm trouble is loads of workshops = sweet shop syndrome
Ahh well just have to be selective with the workshops, and have siesta's
sports drinks : check
mental note : buy a box of matches
Afraid I have no idea what you look like either Maxine (You didn't taxi at Berko Sunday Ceroc did you ) ?
... but will def'nitly be paying nightly visits to the Blues room.. so will be in vicinity somewhere
Let me know if you need any suggestions. Last Saturday, as theme was '70s Disco' I did a 90 minute set of Disco/soul at the WSM weekender. I'm not sure that was the brief, Franco had said "can you make sure you play a few disco tracks in your set as the theme is disco". I told him not to worry, there would be plenty of disco - I'd already decided that the WHOLE SET would be disco
In fact, it was 100 minutes as I started 10 minutes early. I even played Night Train by James Brown
And how did it go down Andy? My guess is "a storm"..!
Gerry - slots? As in plural? As in lots and lots of (funky) Disco/Soul..!!!
Oh yeay, Oh yeay, Oh yeay! Shwiiiing
OOh yes (well to the classic soul part anyway) enjoyed your last slot
I have got a photo on my profile but admittedly I’ve probably changed a bit since then
I did taxi for Ceroc Nights for a bout 3 years but stopped a couple of years ago. I have never taxied at Berko just go there for pure unadulterated fun

Poll's Up!
Love dance, will travel
The whole disco thing worked really well. I felt like I was sticking my neck out a bit by just playing from one era and genre - but it fitted the clothes and the general mood of the dancers.
We even had a moment from "Fame" - the bit where they dance out of the college and into the street. We had a group photo taken of everyone in their outfits standing on the stage and the very wide steps in front of the stage. In a moment of inspiration I said "we're dancers, we need to have our photo taken to music". I put on "Boogie Nights" and everyone started grooving. Then I said, "let's get straight into freestyle" and they danced off the stage, down the steps and a wave of frunky dancers swept down the room - Austin Powers would have said "Shagadelic Baby"
And just for the stay-at-homes ...
Sat - Sara White's Blues Nites - LBD meets MIB in Buckden
Ceroc NI Freestyle tonight - Shaftsbury Bowling Club, Belfast.
