    Freestyles in the south west

I'm soon going to be moving from bonny Scotland down to Somerset for a couple of years. Whilst it's unlikely I'll manage to get to regular classes (though I will if I can), I am interested in attending freestyles. It's a long time since I've lived in the area, and when I did I didn't dance socially.

So what I'm interested in is whether anyone can recommend any good nights (Switch in Bristol seems to be one?) and any web links where I can find more info. It would also be good to get to know a few forumites in the area...

I dance mainly MJ/blues, but can turn my hand (and feet!) to some salsa, ballroom, tango and wcs with varying degrees of ability.

(I'm also interested in 5Rhythms if anyone knows anything about that too?)

Thanks in advance for any help

(I do also intend on making the most of the opportunities available 'down south'. After all, it's really not that far from Somerset to London, or Sara White's or Stokie's events... )

I would love to see you at Sara White's blues nights (though it is quite long way from Somerset). Somewhat nearer would be the big Daventry two room free styles or Utopia at Newbury.

Lost Leader, you're talking to the girl who travelled from Inverness to Leamington for one of Revdrop's parties! And who routinely used to travel 2-3 hours each way with friends to the nearest freestyles from Inverness.

I used to live in Northampton, so I know Daventry is only 2-3 hours from Somerset (though that was several years ago and I tend to forget that traffic in England is much worse than in Scotland) and Sara White's can't be that much further. Newbury is pretty close, by Highland/Scottish standards at least.

And once I cultivate some like-minded friends from the southwest who like to travel and car-share, or find some contacts near events to be able to stay, then England will be my oyster

I look forward to seeing you and many others on a dance-floor soon...

I well remember you coming to Rev. Drops party and I had a vague idea that you might have had to travel a distance to dance up in the Highlands.

It sounds as if you are determined to get your regular quality dance fix - and for blues in the south / midlands there are no finer places than Stokies or Sara White's.

Le roc in and around bristol website could be helpful.
Salsajive.co.uk is also worth a bash.

Alternatively your looking for 'Strictly Ceroc' which is the glos / bristol franchise. or 'Ceroc live' which will take you to swindon and bath.

You should be thinking - Switch (bristol). Glouster freestyle (walls sport and social club) and Big Bath Bash. These are the biggest freestyles in the area.

I unfortunatly don't know much about south of bristol. I'm not so sure there's much down there. I'm sure someone will correct me though.

Southern Jive covers this area. Taunton and Yeovil should not be too far away

Trinity LeRoc do some reasonable freestyles.
    Ceroc Switch is also good.

Salsa at "The Ranch" in Bristol on a Monday is pretty good :-)
    The Kizomba's pretty interesting too!

There is also some Tango happening in Bristol.
I have experimented with Tango West which has excellent teaching.
I hope to return to the classes soon.
