    Another Experiment

Shamelessly retuning Lory's experiment in a (n uncharacteristically) positive lights: what is it that makes you particularly want to dance with someone?

For what it's worth, I find this a *much* better list in terms of picking out the reasons I'd want to dance with someone. (Sorry, Lory).

    Re: Another Experiment

I'm quite surprised at some of the results

Some of the popular options are reasons I 'would' dance with someone but not reasons why I'd really want to

Hmm well, it just shows to go, we all like different things!

I confess, I didn't really think about it and answered in terms of "why I would dance with someone". But on the other hand, the only one I might not tick under those circumstances is: "A mutual friend told you to ask them as a favour". The rest all still hold I think.

    Re: Another Experiment

Hmm, I answered 'Why I would', rather than 'Why I would want to' too.

Which is probably why I only left four boxes unchecked. Guess I'm a bit of a tart. Also explains how I manage to get dances despite my answers to the other experimental poll

I think that's an important distinction. This isn't meant to mean that you'd exclude anyone if they didn't check the right boxes. But there are people we seek out for dancing - both people we know and people we don't. Figuring out that motive is interesting to me.

Well, it was much easier finding stuff to tick on this one!

Looks like the majority of high scores so far relate to dance ability, which didn't show up at all on the other poll.

    Re: Another Experiment

Ticked most but ultimately it's because they are there.

I was once asked to dance with someone who was attending for the first time and danced with the WRONG person.

    Re: Another Experiment

    An interesting Poll

One of the top reason(s) You've danced with them before and they're a really good/ fun dancer

And near the bottom They're new

One of my top reasons for dancing with someon is, because they are new

So how do people decided if new a person a is really good/ fun dancer

Yes watching them will give you a clue but its only a clue. I am I the only person who belives you have to dance with somone to decide if they are fun

In the case of some women, the colour of the shoes and/or socks is irrelevant.

    But size does matter?

Size of socks you mean? Well there are some lengths that are good, and some which are bad. It isn't a linear relationship though.

They dance really close as a factor is entirely dependent on who the someone is! It's an absolute yes please for some , and a not-on-your-life for others...

The trick, then, is knowing who you can pull closer (and closer, and closer) and who is likely to squirm and/or slap you if you try... maybe badges for followers with "UCP" and a green tick or something

    Probably a secondary reason though.

The primary (click reason) reason is (I'm guessing from the ) is whether they're hot enough (on the poll).

My primary reason in a similar situation would be too short or too tall (unfortunately not on the poll).
