Apparently there was an advertising campaign about this but I didn't see it.
However it seems I'm not the only one so thought I'd mention it here.
(I know this is a Scottish Forum and it's an English note, but I imagine some of these notes migrate North over the border occasionally, so I'm hoping it's useful info for the Scots too. )

I heard it on the radio and saw a poster in the post office.
However, you should still be able to exchange it at any bank for a new £20 pretty much forever (or at least as long as the Bank of England exists).
I have a few hundred of those Adam Smith ones in my wallet, most of my Elgar ones I will give to Charity.
Which happens to be me so win win situation
