    Didn't you go?

I've felt so this weekend, that even if we get a million rave reviews, I know the only place that would've been good for me, was my own bed!

Still want to hear all the gossip though

Feedback as follows... (Based on a David Bailey review)

    Journey ok

    Too hot in rooms

    Organisation ok

Didnt understand the naked man standing on stage what was that all about ?

What was with the small fire , no one seem to bother to put it out ?

How did a well known forumite get caught doing that, were the Police called ?

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

Ok what I can think of at the moment in my sleep deprived state:

Another good weekend, not the best but still lots of fun. For me it did not start until the Saturday Afternoon, as I had to be in London on the Saturday Morning but for my clothes the fun started on the Friday(but more about that later).

    Good
    • Standard Ceroc weekend with all the normal trimmings plus a man auction, which was great fun but I was outbid (just have to see if I can buy one on line).
    • Seeing all my weekender friends and catching up and being generally sociable.
    • The massage circle in the blues room, great idea who ever thought of it. I had my shoulders massaged by Dave(non – forum) and The Tramp
    • Coming second in the quiz, fell down on our specialist subject porn films, but think Steve Thomas needs to buy some new films, he seemed to scrape the barrel of his collection.
    • Lovely dances with some lovely guys – mmmm perfect

    Hilarious
    • Discovering that in my absence, on the Friday KPS, Spikey Steve and Dave had decided not to let my clothes miss out on the fun of the weekend just because I was not there and modelled them for me, when Dave showed me the photos I laughed until I cried and I still keep getting the giggles over it.
    • JayJay (who is 4ft 10½ (on a good day) asking this guy who was sitting down to dance when he stood up turned out to be about 6ft 6, we all had to laugh, I think she just about came to the top of his trousers.

    Bad
    • Only bad thing for me was my back and neck ceasing up so last night/this morning had to give at 5:50am 10 mins before it all ended and then missed last man standing pictures.

Looking forward to seeing 'those' on FB

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

Absolutely zonked and am sitting with my feet in a foot spa! My take on the weekend:-

    GOOD

Firstly as always just being there stopped my FOMO Phobia and I didn't have to miss out (thank you again Maxine for the wonderful birthday present of getting me a ticket )

Chalet was a bit of a trek but luckily we had good weather so it wasn't reallly a problem.

As ever catching up with 'weekender' friends and everyone just being so happy to be there and have a dance filled weekend, which I have to say went past in a flash

Hilarious time on Friday, as Maxine previously said, with Kps, Dave, Spikey Steve, Kathleen and Sunnybunny going through Maxines' wardrobe and modelling how she will be looking over the weekend, with photographic evidence

Don't normally do workshops but did Carl & Mel's 'One Track Mind' class which was a nice routine. Tried the WCS Beginners class with Paul & Sarve, which was fine in the workshop but went a bit to pot in freestyle but thank you Phil dB for having the patience to bear with me ........and being a glutton for punishment did the WCS Doubles , think I held my own tho!

Had a giggle watching the body sliders out on the grass and it was so lovely to be able to sit out in the sun.

Coming second in the quiz.........are there really such films?

    Some very definite 'WOW' dances.

Was there til the bitter end on all three nights and made the 'Last Man Standing' photo.

The cookies and cake supplied by Twirly.........thank you

    BAD

Although the Milonga's ran over all three nights, toooooo many women

No freezer in the chalet, had a craving for a Magnum for later, but no where to put it .......... did a Weight Watcher Leader really say that?!

Spent too much money in the dancewear shop.

Missing the massage circle in the Blues Room .

Football keeping some of the men away

All in all had a really special weekend.....another goodie. It was made special by dancing as much as I did, learning new things as I ought to, socialising as much as I could and laughing as much as I should of done.

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

Overall I enjoyed the weekend, although did feel like there were a few faces I usually bump into at the Camber weekenders who weren't there.

I didn't do many classes this time compared to usual as wasn't that inspired by many of them, but I think including more levels of classes (int-, int+, adv, beg, int) meant that generally people seemed to be attending the correct level for their standard.

    Good:
The bargain electricity, given there's very little requirement for heating water now there's electric showers!
Some fab dances with some of my favourites and some new finds.
No rain - lovely afternoon walking along the beach on Saturday, plus ice creams.
WCS double trouble class - great fun, especially with the mix of levels but everyone seemed to get it by the end.
Relaxing weekend helped by our brilliant meal planning in advance.

    Bad:
Just didn't get into the blues room on Sunday night - but luckily was predominantly enjoying the main room so still got to dance with some of my favourite people and some new finds.
Cabaret timing - in the pamphlet as 9pm, we decided it probably wouldn't happen til after the football so arrived at 9.30 minus dance shoes as we were intending to watch it, then go back and change...only to find that it was close to 10.30 by the time it started with no communication about the time change. This then meant the live singer went on later - we usually try and avoid this as it's too samey for our liking, but because of the timing, we were ready to dance when this was still on)

    Ugly:
Driving home while my 2 chalet mates slept in the car leaving me trying to stay awake.

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

For once, I had a great weekend, with nothing major to complain about – must be a first for me

    The Good
Fab chalet-mate and a chalet where everything seemed to work well and no bad smells. Great journey down (and back). Even had a great night on Friday which is very rare for me. Lots of lovely dances – and one or two strange ones. Lovely catching up with people too, and meeting one or two new faces. A chance to wear my new dress Saturday night too, which got some lovely comments

The weather – not having to huddle over the heater in the chalet or rush between chalet and venue trying not to get blown away by the gale force winds. Who knew Camber could be warm and sunny?!

Making it to the Milonga on Saturday night (and yes, as JayJay says, there were far too many women), getting a couple of dances and not wobbling quite so much this time in my new dance shoes – not tango shoes, but didn’t seem to have the balance issues I had before, so maybe there is hope for me. Rachel nipping back to her chalet to get some proper tango shoes to try on – she’s been trying to get the shoes and me in the same place since Camber in March and lastly being asked to dance by Marc, who despite my wobbling a couple of times, again made me feel that I might actually be able to tango

Sunday, I did no classes as none appealed, and I couldn’t be bothered to hang around waiting for the freestyle, so I popped into Rye and did a bit of shopping (bought some very strange “wool” to knit a sweater with that is actually mostly made out of bamboo), went for a walk on the beach and then just chilled out before I had my massage. Was lovely!

Sunday night was just fantastic. Not only did I get asked to dance a lot more than normal, the music (whoever seemed to be DJing) downstairs was just right for me. I did pop upstairs for a while, as there was a patch where there were too many ladies sitting around, had some great dances and got my energy back up again before heading back downstairs for the rest of the evening – didn’t want to leave, but knew I was tired and driving back today on my own.

    The Bad
    Not a lot, for once!
There seemed to be lots of women sitting around on Saturday night downstairs – have a feeling that there were more women than men overall again. Unfortunately the music wasn’t doing it for me either (upstairs or down) so I gave up and went to bed earlier than I would have liked.

The heat at the Milonga on Saturday night was awful (despite the machinery being on full blast to try and cool it down) – were they going for the full Buenos Aires experience?! I left after an hour, and felt thankful to be in the main room where it was nice and cool by comparison.

Getting muddled on the timings of the milonga on Sunday and missing it.

Certain faces (some forum, some not) being missing. Generally there were a lot less people I knew there this time compared to previous Cambers. It does feel like a trend though, as I found the same, if to a lesser degree, last time too.

    Missing Beo

    The Ugly
Absolutely nothing! Think that’s the first time I’ve ever said that…

    The Odd or Interesting
On Friday night, a chap coming rushing up to me upstairs (dance partner in tow) who kissed me warmly on both cheeks and said “How are you – lovely to see you again!” before rushing off again… haven’t got a clue who he was!

A comment overheard at the end of the beginners class I did on Saturday afternoon as a lead “Yes, we spent the rest of the night downstairs… it was slower and far less intimidating – fewer drops and things”. Hopefully this is a good thing.

On a general note, and I recognise that there is nothing really that Ceroc can do about this due to the structure of the place, but I wish there was more daytime dancing. I know I’m not the only one to think this either. Sadly, I can’t do any of the Southports this year, though my chalet-mate has decided she wants to book for May’s Southport next year as well, so will get that sorted as soon as we can.

I took a few photos, so they'll be up on FB shortly (can't wait to see Maxine's clothes partying without her!).

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

Another good weekender-we had a cleanish and half decent chalet and only spent a quarter of the amount on electric compared to Storm - Bonus!

We took part in the Great Escapee competition on Saturday and made the final - Thanks to everyone that cheered us on-we really had a blast - not to sure that the Gigametre that they used to register the cheers was working right tho either that or my ears were hearing things!

    The good

Of course the dancing and the weather!!!!!

Watching Steve Thomas, Gordon Pownall, Tim Sant and Jamie McGregor sliding down the water slide on Sunday afternoon was extremely entertaining

My Massage from Nick C which helped me make it through the weekend- Thank you

Steve and Gordon on true Diamond form for both the Man Auction and the Big Fact Hunt

    The Bad

The pure sweatiness of the venue-only managing a few dances before looking like i was melting

The Cabaret hour being advertised at 9 and yet not starting till after 10

Not being able to dance with too many other people because of my shoulder ( here's praying that once i have had my surgery on 1st i will be all mended and still able to dance)

All in all it must of been good as i feel like i have been hit by a bus today and could sleep for a week

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

A good weekend, but agree with Maxine. For me, didn't seem to have the buzz of the last Camber.

    Good

Some amazing dances, mainly downstairs, but did nip to main room Sunday night during a drop in COZ room music and found loads of space.
Trying out my WCS and possibly getting away with it - or at least blagging it well enough
Tried the Escape comp - didn't make final, but enjoyed the experience.
Pub atmosphere Sunday was excellent (generally - see below)

    Bad

Chalet in time zone 3!! There were some funny smells & not from my roommates!!
Pub nearly emptying half way thru Sunday - how do u sack a DJ??? Well done to Ian for getting it back on track.
Trying to get a dance with DD+, but rejected (obviously very politely). From hers, see why now - no worries - another time

    The Contoversial

Escape comp result - I'm with DD+, but then maybe we both need new ears?!?!?

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

This weekend was a reminder of the old great ones ..........

    Great
The weather, The standard of dancing, The Music, My dances with the MJ pros - in fact ALL my partners, didn't have a bad dance all weekend

    Good
The Freezer in my fridge (first time I've had one) - meeting up with old friends, watching the 'youngsters' dance, eg: Jammy, Coleen and mates and the very talented Joe Fletcher. Being so close to the venue, especially as the very funny slide show was outside my door.

The quiz, Gordon Pownell & Steve (thank you Porn Stars fir allowing me to be a temp star)

The amazing auction - respect to Val (I think it was her idea) - the boys were brilliant and Gordon even better

Watching the "Children" playing on the sandpit games

In fact everything about the weekend

    Bad
My sore little toe - which I knocked on the chair Saturday - had a couple of drinkies and it kept getting in the way (the chair leg that is) - really hurt when I put my shoes on which made dancing painful (didnt stop me tho)

Not having enough money to buy my fave dancers (wanted all of them actually) to have all to myself ALL weekend

Missing dances with Nick C and a few others who were upstairs most of the weekend, (not sure if I got to dance with Martin G either - he was such a popular boy I couldnt get a look in)

Missing friends - especially Lory and the Trouble sisters

    The REALLY bad
Having to leave a Magnum in the freezer this morning

Re: Cmon, where is the Camber aftermath thread?

I love Mike Ellards swing hour - but it is soooooooooooooo frustrating as Mike and Paul Rose are the only real swing/lindy dancers there, and Mike was DJing and I only got one dance with Paul even though I dragged him in there as there was a queue for him (Mike normally gives me a dance - but was a wrapped up with the music this time) boooooooo bloody hoooooooo

Wish Gav was there at least I might have got TWO proper dances - it's not the same thing dancing MJ to a swing track

Have to save my swing stuff for HepCats in two weeks time

Result was laughable or equipment questionable.

From our point in the hall, volume was between you guys and Mark and Lyndsay.

    I'd agree with that.

I found the comp enjoyable but a bit strange seeing some of the established competition faces competing in full finery (I presume because they'd done the showcase for the dancewear company rather than getting dressed up especially) I wonder if Ceroc intended it to attract this kind of crowd or if they expected more regular punters to get up and have a go?

To be fair to him, I think even Aleks would agree with that
