I've been offered a last minute ticket...and being single again....thought I'd take the opportunity! Have been away from the weekenders for a time so please be nice to me if you see me
Due to a friend not being able to go due to injury I have a spare female ticket for Skegness for £100.
Chalet of 6, 2M 4F from Exeter. PM me if interested.

Passes have arrived with no programme apparently due to a printing problem. I checked the website and can't find the programme online either.
Can someone confirm how many rooms will be opened and if its a two, rather than three room event as rumoured, which rooms will be in use?
surprised, looks like there will be no milonga slot then!?
Can't really give you a review of Skeggy, even though I was there. Me and Gav watched the footy on Friday night in the bar with Lee, Claire and Under Par, back to apartment to sleep til midnight then dancing for one hour. The rest of the weekend we spent coastal walking and relaxing in Butlins Spa. We didn't go out dancing on Saturday night and came home on Sunday morning.
That was the last Skeggy. John gave it a good go, but numbers were down a lot this weekend...so much so that Reds wasn't an option with only Jaks and Arthurs open to dancers.
The good news is that there will be a new option next year in Hemsby, Gt Yarmouth, which will be an all inclusive package. I believe the whole place will be dancers rather than a mix of dancers and muggles, which is my preference.
Gav knows Hemsby well and is in the area regularly so will have a nose round the new venue to see what it's like at some point.
I felt more or less like DT above. Have stayed a bit longer on all nights, but the general feeling was the same.
I have barely managed to stay till 3am on Friday night, missing all the brouhaha with the football, which was a good thing for me!
Saturday had 1 lesson after a swim.
Sunday, didn't manage to get to the lessons at all, just went swimming, though all my roomies and friends did, and loved them :-) Again, stayed till about 3am, and really was pushing myself...
The good:
Saturday night was good, stayed till 5 am. Daniel's sets were lovely throughout. Dances with Adam - absolute highlight of the whole weekend!
The bad:
Only 2 rooms. Some music at 2-3 am in the blues room was awful - sorry RevDrop, boom boom boom just wasn't working for me... A guy accosting me on my way to the car with a complaint that I didn't remember him - hell matey how can I forget the chap who gave me the two worst dances of the whole weekend?!!!
The ugly:
Awfully boring dance with Jake - and I had such high expectations. Not sure whether he was pissed or just not bovvered... Another 2 ruined pairs of shoes. Floor was spinny but laid down so badly - again...
I am looking forward to the next one closer to home, with 3 rooms, and cheaper with food included!
Now, I wouldn't have minded that. When we were in the blues room, Dr Chill was on and the music he was playing was depressing and every track sounded the same as the last. Something a bit more up-lifting might have made me stay a bit longer. Maybe not boom boom boom, but some something smooth and funky would have hit the spot. It was the other extreme in the main room where Roger Chin was DJ'ing. The place was packed and it was full techno fast crap I'd expect from Robin at Cheshunt!
John, if you're reading this...please look at getting some new DJ's in. I didn't like a single track played at Metropolis in February and the same for the short time I bothered dancing this weekend.
I’m surprised no one has thought of Bognor Butlins

Maybe they have and not told me
In the end cost put me off and the mark up.
It does seem that JA were always on a loser at Skegness. The place was too big,too expensive and there were 'muggles' sharing the weekend and that just doesn't seem to work.
I was at Skegness only from the Saturday evening onwards (had to work Sat daytime) but I enjoyed myself a lot (as did many of those attending with whom I spoke). Yes, numbers were down on the previous events there but the use of 2 rather than 3 rooms lessened the impact of that. I had some excellent dances in both rooms but I would agree with some of the comments re the music selection especially in Jaks though that's more about my personal preferences than the DJs not delivering what was billed. Thanks go to the Northern Birds for giving me space to crash (and many top dances to boot) and to John for sorting me out with entry. A weekender doesn't have to have 1000+ people attending for me to enjoy it. Give me half a dozen people I enjoy dancing with, a bar open throughout the night and daytime laughs with a group of friends and I'm happy. Skeggy ticked those boxes for me and I'll be interested to see where John goes next.
You mean no one has thought of running dance weekends at Butlins?
There have been some in the past - about 5 yrs ago I think was the last one. But same prob as with Skeggy; its a massive complex and jivers would never fill it (it holds about 5,000) which means we'd have to share with muggles or as in the case of the last one there, with a 'boogie nights' weekender. The boogiers were in the majority so they had the main room and we only had one smaller venue.
High standard of accom (incuding a very good 4* hotel) but also very spread out (long walks) and more expensive than Pontins etc
