I can't find it on saras site - help?
Only the other day I was bemoaning the fact that no-one seems to do tea dances these days. Well, now they do. Details are on the Sara White web site and the venue looks "quite classy" (see here http://www.stokeplace.co.uk/reservation.shtml)
It's on 12 June so there's a bit of a treat in store for those not going to Camber.
Really looking forward to this.

Just a clever ploy to throw the ruffians off the scent. I also deliberately quoted the wrong date (clever eh). Luckily this is written in invisible ink so it is safe to reveal that it is actually on Sunday 13 June and that the details are in the latest SW weekly e-mail update (for those in the know obviously, say no more)

I've heard a rumour about one in Scotland next weekend ...
Me too ...
One ray on the horizon for the Northern folk who never got to enjoy the Legend that was Jango .... and it comes from Ceroc!! Local Lad Chris Baker (Ceroc Xtra) is trialing out Sunday T-Dances in a nice little venue in Yarm (Between Newcastle and York ... ish). I don't think he's settled on the musical direction yet, but he's trying to push the more 'eclectic' ... so maybe we will have a new space to push the bounadries of Sunday dancing.
I went to a charming tea dance last Sunday, near Canterbury. A great atmosphere and plenty of thought put into the decor, plus a superb couple from Argentina to do a lesson, which was very reminiscent of Amir's lessons. OK it was tango, but much less fussy and less intimdating than most tango events I've been to.
I have run a few tea dances in Whitstable majoring on cakes, with music similar to Jango dances, but the town is so crowded with tourists in summer it has to be winter only.

Northern folks have had this for a while now Gus. Dr Chill started his Chilled Sundays in Wetherby nearly two years ago, when there was nothing else going on in that part of the country. There are now quite a few people putting on events with a similar theme...and a similar name. One is actually called Sunday Chill....very original....it's a bit like off & f**k.....
Well aware of Messr Chill's events, was one of the DJs who helped him to get going. Chris's events are probably more leaning towards mainstream .... the feedback seems to be that the Chill events have gone more towards WCS and so they appeal to a minority of the dancers in the area but that may not be a bad thing.
At the end of the day its horses and courses. Dancers will gravitate to the music and dance environment they feel most comfortable with. Style Jive of a Smooth Jive event and there are a number of Me-Too events ... but Chris seems to be developing his own style ... and the dancers are predominantly from his own clubs ... so at least no one can accuse him of stealing 'anyone elses' dancers.
Yes I agree, Jango (aka T-Jive with a Jango lesson) on Sunday afternoons with scrumptious cakes and even more wondrous music, courtesy of the self-styled Kenobe meister, were indeed the stuff of legend.
It's absolutely a shame that those days are no more.
However...it has come to my attention that we are in luck, and that 'those days' are still with us in the form of the self-styled Kenobe meister's Funky Lush Extravaganza™ which is happening on 27th June kicking off at 3pm. That's right, on a Sunday.
Is it too good to be true? No, it's actually happening, and I have it on good authority that the cakes make the word decadent seem rather inadequate.
What say we relive the old days, dust off our funky gladrags and prepare oursleves for an afternoon of lushiousness?
Go on, you know you want to...
