    Is CEROC a Cult?

anyone noticed that there is weird tendency within the CEROC-ites to attack those who do not embrace their one true MJ Faith...

Worse than the non-believers are the apostates and heretics of other MJ forms who must be singled out and destroyed lest they lead the good CEROC-ites away from the path of the blessed prophet ELLARD... who sends out his disciples to spread the word and root out the weak and doubting... and his deeds are praised to the heavens and his enemies smitten..

Praise the lord and pass the ammunition!

Someone else said something very similar once.

Funny, they were never heard from again.

    You really are quite ridiculous...

You post something on another thread that looks derogatory, and are then surprised that people might respond in a way that you feel is an attack?

How about you don't make a post in the first place, that looks like an attack on Ceroc, and then there wouldn't need to be an (imho) appropriate response made. And, as I said there in response to your attack on me, my views are my own, having nothing to do with, endorsed by or representing Ceroc in any way.

ELLARD is not the prophet.... he's just a naughty boy. CRONIN is (or was), the true messiah. Ellard is/was a disciple.

Anyone noticed that the Ceroc Forum has always had very open debates both for and against Ceroc for many years and that anyone that doesn't get their own way always ignores that?

I believe that most LeRoc etc teachers learned Ceroc in the first instance.

Speaking as a LeRoc teacher, I first attended a LeRoc class and learned my MJ from many places, some of them were Ceroc.

I think I had to un-learn more of what I was taught at Ceroc than any other dance class.

However, I have learnt more from the Ceroc business model than I've learnt from any other dance class.

    no-one-has-said-that-you-do

    But-you-only-have-yourself-to-blame-for-how-people-read-your-posts

Besides that, I think this is the first time I have ever been accused of not having a sense of humour! But then, I guess, that's my bad as I have failed to see the humour in anything you have posted thus far..

    Re: Is CEROC a Cult?

I go to classes from three different organisations, and people from Ceroc go to the others and people from the others go to Ceroc. I'm including teachers in this, in both directions.

It's all a bit incestuous, and I like the fact that everybody teaches something a bit different - it's all recognisable as "modern jive"..

So nope, not seen any cultist behaviour here (unless you include the unfortunate prevalence of Man City fans..)

Perhaps you are right re: LeRoc specifically. But certainly most of the rival MJ clubs were born out of Ceroc.

You started this based on my perfectly levelled response to your ill-informed attack on judging at Ceroc competitions. I honestly don't care what you think about Ceroc, but it was perfectly clear from your post that you have no idea about judging at dance competitions. I gave you my opinion, which you then decided to throw back at me in an abusive rant. Other people realised what a lot of nonsense you were talking and told you so, which you took great offence to and decided to blame on a perceived 'Ceroc Cult', rather than just accepting the obvious; that you were talking rubbish. Simple! So, the simple answer is, no, Ceroc is not a cult. It's just a large organisation with a lot of members who enjoy dancing

its a shame, i think Mike should mandate all competition costumes are Black and Orange from now on. I love Orange and Black, my favourite colours. Flattering and Jazzy.

Yes, but nearly 10 years before that when I began Ceroc there was almost no partner dancing anwhere. And it had almost completely died when Ceroc began in 1980.

However, due to the finite nature of Ceroc (in that there is little or no footwork), many of the better Cerocers left to set up their own companies. Ceroc tried suing some of them. And lost fortunately. It is these that I refer to as rivals........ LeRoc, Lejive etc.

As far as I remember, it was LeJive doing the suing and had nothing to do with Ceroc
