Greatest dance performance of all time?

I was looking through my youtube favorites and was wondering what the best clip I had in there was.

It then got me on to wondering what the best dance performance ever was and has it already been decided?

Throw some suggestions in here (pref with youtube links) and when there is enough, I'll do a poll

Here are some of my suggestions.

not his best dance but an important one

    David Byrne is genius!!

Can't deny it's amazing dancing. Only had a brief look - is it (almost) the same choreography as the UK SYTYCD with Charlie & ?? If so, for some reason, I didn't feel quite as moved by this as by Charlie's - didn't feel the same emotion coming through. And it's almost too neat, too precise ... Though perhaps it's cos I'm still in the office, just having a quick look at a tiny screen, distracted by work, etc etc.

Beaten by the first 30 seconds of (IMHO).

From the swing world, I've always thought this was pretty astounding: having messed up a tough showcase routine, Benji and Heidi just get up and do the whole thing again clean.

Well - it's impressive, but the first 30 seconds is hardly dance

If it's the jumps and splits you want, you need to look at what Fred Astaire once called " "

totally agree - UK version of the same - which i think is far superior. (skip the intro nonsense and get to the dance)

Spot on - much more raw emotion in that version

Regarding David Byrne & Talking Heads

How about this from my fave concert film

Best dance performance is really difficult though - there's something about this one I like to come back to though

No argument from me, but from the clip you'd posted (and attached smiley), I thought the criterion you were aiming for was more "well, I wasn't expecting that!".

Thanks for the link! I never normally 'do utube' as it's usually blocked at work, and I never get on the pc at home.

I've watched both clips back to back now and Charlie & Robbies' is still undoubtably (IMO!) the best. Melissa is over-dramatising it all in her face, but every single body movement is so controlled and carefully placed; and she's not nearly as athletic as Charlie who literally throws her whole body into everything.

Yes yes yes, that's the one I was trying to think of! Years ago, we used to have a huuuuge poster of him in The Big Suit up in our kitchen.

Mmm, lovely . Tthey might get points from the judges for covering the floor, whereas close hold might not (But then, that isn't the point of close hold is it? )
