Don't put your hand down it (or any other parts you don't want bitten).

Why not add a bunker and perhaps a slit trench or two?

Fill it with concrete. My parents had ongoing problems with foxes digging away the ground underneath their shed, and eventually had to fill the hole in with concrete - filling it back in with earth didn't work, foxes are very persistent! They'll give up and find somewhere else to go if you make them, though.

*As an extra deterrent you could try cutting up fresh lemons and scattering them around the areas they appear to be digging. Foxes hate the smell of lemons.

*That's a massage you owe me.

Not entirely relevant to the thread but I remember on a holiday in the Lakes a few years back driving through a hunt in progress and being gobsmacked at the sheer size of the hounds as they piled over the fences. No wonder the fox runs.
