    Male Dance Clothes

Searched the forum and not much there.

Basically I am looking for dance shirts. I am aware Balca is there at the weekenders but usually its just one rack of mens stuff and the shirts are usually cut for small shouldered guys, while I have a belly (36" waist), its the shoulders I have trouble with. I usually have to go for a 42" short jacket or a 16" neck short shirt to accomodate the shoulders.

I did find a gold and black shirt at Balca's stand which is made out of some stretchy shiny material that wicks and dries sweat quickly. But just the one.

So any suggestions on where to buy? I heard DM Clothes, but they've stopped doing the mens stuff. What sort of material should I be looking at? Google seems to turn up people in the states or china.

Funny enough, I, pretty fustrated at the lack of mens dance clothes too so decided to do something about it.

Starting yesterday, I have been designing mens (and Ladies) dance clothes. Mainly in a street/casual style ie without sequins.

Will hopefully have a range from t's to dance shoes.

keep an eye out as will be opening an online shop as soon as I can sort out suppliers etc.

Depends what you want them for.
Do you want to be comfortable and look good? If so, try Next, River Island, Top Man etc. Personally, none of the clothes I wear for dancing are "dance clothes". In fact, some of the shoes I wear aren't even dance shoes.

Do you want to enter competitions, or look like you do? If so, try "proper" dance wear shops, or get what you want made specially.

I want number one with the added advantage that they don't turn into a wet garment instantly which a lot of shirts from the places you mentioned do. I've gone through 3 shirts in that fashion, while a dance shirt seems to dry pretty quickly if you stand by a fan for a minute.

So number 1, with the added advantage of the materials they use for number 2. I've noticed that a lot of Balca's stuff which has a label on it seems to be from Gay shops based in Brighton. Its a bit far to go for stuff though.

If you want something more casual, have you thought about trying hiking/walking clothes? (Millets, Blacks etc)

That explains the trouser shaped holes in the curtains and bedspreads at Camber and Southport.

Dont buy cargo pants from millets, I was doing a drop a the end of a song, bent down and there was a catostrophic failiure, the tarring sound was on the ricter scale, they ripped from the croutch to my knee, my partner was really considerate, she nearly weed herself with laughter and pointed at it, which really wasn't being part of the solution, I remember walking off the dancefloor with the fabric flapping around my leg trying to pretend nothing had happend, I still have nightmares.

Looking for polyester/cotton mix shirts rather than pure cotton would be good as they dry faster and don't need ironing. If they've got a bit of lycra in as well, even better.
