That's weird as the size in mb is the same.. back to the drawing board!
Took some pics today and I just want to see the difference between 72dpi and 300dpi

Setting the dpi probably just tells compatible software what size to print/display the image.
Your image is 3648 x 2056
At 300dpi this will display/print approx 12.16 x 6.85 inches.
At 72dpi this will display/print approx 50.67 x 28.56 inches.
Neither will fit on an A4 sheet of paper...
If you insert the images into a Microsoft Word document it should respect the dpi setting.
However, it might not since there may be some subtle incompatibity between what your software sets and what Microsoft Word expects...
This is not strictly trueSetting the dpi probably just tells compatible software what size to print/display the image.

There are some cases where setting the dpi has an effect.
The two attached images are both 1280x1024, however one has a dpi of 300, the other has a dpi of 600.

Using OpenOffice.org writer (version 3.2.0)
If I use the menu to: Insert/Picture/From File...
to add these images to a document they are added with different sizes.
I would expect Microsoft Word to do the same, but have not checked...
