Looking for a lift to BLUSH weekender @ Southport

    Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to attend the Feb BLUSH weekender at Southport - I missed the last Southport last year, and this could be the last chance I get to attend a Southport weekender...

But in order for me to get there, I'm looking for someone who could kindly offer me a carlift to there and back again -- I'm in Glasgow Scotland. Even after a year in the UK, I still cannot fathom a way to use public transport to reliably get to Southport and back.

Hope to hear from someone about carlifts soon!

    Thanks in advance,

    AussieJ

Can't offer a seat I'm afraid as our car is full, but I know you can get the train down (via Wigan or Preston) - I had been looking at it and depending on when you travel it's about £40 return on thetrainline.com

AussieJ travels so light that if I can fit his bag, I'd be able to fit him! (A good recommendation on him!)

I however am in a car full of girls. We don't travel light. (It takes a heck of a lot of effort and equipment to look this passable at a weekender!!!) :p

Hey thanks for letting me know about your carshare situation.

I'm looking at the website to see the trains to get to me to Southport... but then its another matter to try and get myself from Southport Railway Station to the Pontins resort yes? That bit I haven't figured out yet.

Awww shucks, you do a way better job of making me sound like a good carshare companion than I ever could on my own!

Very easy. Pontins is at Ainsdale - just a few stops from Southport (going towards Liverpool).

Once off the train head turn left out of the station and head towards the sea - its about 15 mins walk from the station - or a taxi will take a few mins and only cost a few pounds. (I always used to walk it but as usually travel in a group we tend to get a few taxis).

Wow... I was on the verge of buying tickets to get me to Southport Railway Station. But Ainsdale Station seems a LOT closer. It just goes to show how easily confounded I am with public transport that I'm not familiar with!

Its only a few stops on the train from Southport, about 10 mins or so.
