MJ Roc Warmwell Weekender WHO ARE THEY?

This explains the bit on the Warmwell Weekender website which says "we took in consideration all known UK modern Jive weekender's dates throughout this time and booked a free weekend to launch".

I'm sure the debate about Ceroc clashing with Warmwell will be a repeat of many debates we've had on here. Will Rocky do his usual thing and make Ceroc seem like the bad guys while defending Ceroc to the hilt? My take is that Ceroc either had to change the date at the venue's request or they've run a spoiler to the launch of a new competitor. Either one is normal business practice. Not nice for the competitor, but completely normal for a competitive business - so long as nothing unethical has been done.

    What we really want to know is who MJ Roc is? My take on the vagueness of their website is that they've got something to hide. We've been told that the organisers are "New, fresh Independent Dance Organiser, Fully backed by team with years of BIG Dance experience". If the "organiser" or the "team" could release their names they would have done so, especially if they were an attraction as this would increase the number of bookings. So, my question and the reason for starting this thread is, to quote Big Brother's Princess Nikki;

    "Who Are They?"

Tini bit more info here (previously attending dancers stuff etc).

I understand the web site is under construction.

I presume there will be 'about us' sections once it is completed. The first weekend is still a year away give or take.

We all wait with bated breath.

The UK Jive entry says the contact is Colin Head - the rest is as teh website

Warmwell is a nice venue but distant from most of the civilised world bar the good bergers of Weymouth.

Just been looking at their FB Site and it looks like there is a big leaning towards a Surrey based Independent as TW says it is probably Colin Shaul

Are these the guys who organised the old Warmwell weekender? Friends of mine used to rave about this event.

    Or is it something new?

From their website they seem keen to stress that they have nothing to do with the organisers of the previous weekenders.

One of the domains pointing to the website is registered as follows:

Is Dawn related to Colin, or is he planning a sex change?

MJ Roc, asked me to be their friend on FB but I wrote back explaining (in a polite way) that I only make friends with people who let me know their 'real' identity..

I had a friendly reply, explaining that 'all will be revealed, SOON' and that they didn't blame me for my decision, as they also do the same themselves.

I'm still waiting but appreciated the fact that they bothered to reply.

Just a thought, I work in a bussiness that offers a service on a prepaid service (same as weekenders) but we have Fiancial Bonding and there are full contact details available of all parties concerned or behind the event. I have been Known to attend a few weekenders and look forward to new ventures but would be very hesitant to part with some of my hard earn cash to some organisation with no Provinance. so why all the Cloak and Dagger

Re: MJ Roc Warmwell Weekender WHO ARE THEY?

It seems comical to me that there's any idea that MJRoc have something to hide, when I reckon there must be several hundred people at various dance venues who already know any relevant details. I wonder how many people knew who Franco was when he started Jive Time weekenders in the early 1990s, or knew John and Wes and Jive Addiction?

I am surprised that there is currently any secrecy about MJRoc. I do know some of the major parties involved, as far as I recall, I wasn't told that information in confidence, and can't see any reason why the names shouldn't be public. I also know that MJRoc were in contact with other weekender organisations in order to avoid clashing dates, so these organisations must know the peolpe involved.
But, in case there are still legal machinations going on, or perhaps more organisations to be brought on board, or other reasons unknown to me, I think I should keep quiet.

Or have I already said too much?

It seems comical to me too. However, they do seem to be attempting to keep their identity a secret. If they were open about their identity they would have exposed themselves to Lory rather than saying 'all will be revealed, SOON'.

    Let's hope it's not a cold night

Maybe it's just that in trying to appear all mysterious and interesting, they've missed the mark and come across as secretive and dodgy.

Not the best way to launch a new venture.

Err, maybe ... I suppose it all depends on what you know

It's probably me who has said too much

I'm certain, absolutely certain, that our "man who will reveal himself to Lory" will be annoyed that I've started this thread.

Or is it a woman? And who will she choose first when it comes to "revealing all"?

    My answer to "Annoyed Anon" is;

Who Do You Think You Are?

I'm not sure what you guys are wittering on about. Secrecy? Hardly.

    This is published at Uk-Jive.

As for Ceroc changing its date, I sincerely hope it's not as direct competition to a newcomer in the field.

Whatever, I , and many of my dancer friends will choose Warmwell over the Ceroc weekender anyway.

Well I welcome the fact that there is another weekender on the market. The competition serves the paying punter well.

Would Ceroc really move the date of its any of its weekenders to compete with another event 4 hours drive away? Would pontins have enough flexibility to do so? Would it really matter?

The Ceroc weekenders seem to be sold out 6 months in advance anyway so there is still more demand than there is supply anyway.

It will be interesting to see the details of teachers, DJs, etc and the layout of the venues though to see how it is going to be pitched.

Maybe he sold it to Colin Head?
