I've no idea why that was allowed though. Seems like a strange thing to do.

Wow, some great Lindy dancing, very reminiscent of WCS . Love the music

Most of the current lindy danced is to slower music - when the tempo is faster, dancers usually go into Bal - I love the slow stuff, you can really play at it, even at my level

Really? (and apologies for straying so far off-topic) - that's not something I've observed myself, but I suppose we don't tend to dance at the same venues, geographical constraints being what they are.

Personally, I'm more likely to switch to Bal once we get much above the 210bpm mark ... and that still isn't particularly fast for a lot of the international lindy crowd. (I mean - if you look at the 2006 ULHS finals, the medium tempo was at 240bpm, and the fast at 340... )

I still don't understand why the standard WCS speed range is so slow. There doesn't seem to be anything inherently limiting in the dance itself (in my admittedly small experience of it) - is it just that people prefer the slower speeds?

Apologies again for wandering off-topic like this.

Yes, but only recently (like the past year) - from the dances I have been to, only a few dance lindy to the fast tracks.

totally agree, however they do have to slow the pace down for teaching and I suppose the dancers prefer it. I love the funky stuff for WCS
