I have to agree I think the fabric ones are better but I am not sure I don't think they weren't put on right. I am sure they could of been put on in a way that the plastic bit laid flat against your wrist, I may be totally wrong but that would of made them much better as they did scratch against a couple of people whilst I was dancing with them.

Me too - I'll come peacefully officer

I bet they missed Brighton Belle that night back in London, they were having to make do with cake from Spar.

The Forum Gathering on Friday was very well attended - over 40 forumites at least.

Having left it too late to get tickets for Breeze this year I won't be making that mistake again. Intend to book as soon as possible for Scorch next year, plus probably Breeze and maybe even Lux.

My main gripe with the fabric ones was the plastic bit. I was very conscious of the fact that it kept scraping against people and myself. Next time I will bring some selotape to wrap around it to tie it down to the band and blunt the edges.

Personally Ive never had a problem with the plastic ones though. But then I guess with any material, you will allways have someone who gets irritated by it. Just make the clasp part as inconspicuous as possible and it's fine by me!

    Re: Breeze - The Aftermath

My twopenn’th – better late than never.

I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend – and apart from an hour or so in the main room on Saturday night, I spent all my time either in the Boudoir or the Chill Out Room.

I absolutely love the atmosphere in the Boudoir – dancing in the daylight seems so …... decadent. On Sunday afternoon I had a whole series of lovely dances with a “nice young man” from Bristol called Matt – I do hope that he will remember me next year when he will be up there with all the westie superstars!

One of the most exciting things for me about weekenders is when I find new dance partners that I just seem to click with and this weekend was no exception. The previously ‘gushed about’ Anthony, although I might have to take some knee supports to Southport, and the gorgeous Phi_dB for example. There were many others as well, whose names I can’t recall – I just seemed to float from dance to dance, partner to partner.

Now, to add some balance – a few (in the scheme of things, pretty inconsequential) lows.

The M5 leg of the journey. As this would appear to be consistently bad, although for different reasons each year, I suppose we will all just have to accept / expect this and calculate journey times accordingly.

The pretty poor performance from the Porn Stars quiz team on Sunday, when our 5th place was a bit of a come down after last year’s triumph. I suspect two factors influenced this - the eye-wateringly early start and the lack of our specialist subject – cough !

One of the lumpiest mattresses I have ever tried to sleep on.

Bring on Southport (and Camber) and let’s do it all again. Yaaaay !

Thanks for posting these (though I'm finding it embarassing watching myself dance! )

The Avonmouth road bridge works were planned for last autumn / winter & likewise this year - they are an absolute nightmare. BUT they won't need to resurface again for a long time so 2010 should be a lot better

(unfortunately the jams that happen on that stretch in the summer months are nothing to do with roadworks so they will continue)

    Re: Breeze 2009- The Aftermath

I had a brilliant time. Nice to meet a couple of members of this Forum, namely Astro and Lory. I didn't spend much time in the "Blues" room but had a good time when I did. Most of my time was spent in the "Thunderball" room and the Boudoir and I had a ball. I hadn't realised about the gender imbalance until someone mentioned it but I was dancing practically non-stop every night. My best night was Sunday which was a little less frenetic and I had some excellent dances. In short, great crowd, great music, great dancefloors, mediocre cabaret, poor accomodation (COLD shower). Highlights : All three evening freestyles in the main hall (Thunderball Room) ;The Swing Hour at the Queen Victoria pub; My first Tango class; some great Blues dancing for the UK National Championship. Lots of familiar faces and excellent dances. All in all an excellent weekend of dancing. As far as the gender balance issue goes see http://southernjive.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=509 where there is an explanation of the problem.

    Thanks for that link.

It will be interesting to see if the gender balance discount scheme planned for next week's Southport will help with this issue.

That cold shower would be the hot water heater switch mounted obscurely high or low outside but within about 5 foot of the bathroom, took me an age to find mine. Heated towel rail is next to it.

My late assessment of the Breeze weekend includes my appreciation for all the friendly people I met and excellent Ceroc training I managed to fit in. I waned somewhat on Sunday and only managed one session, but did take part in the 80's quiz along with a very nice lady from Gloucester - yes we were the "strongest team" as we were holding the rest of you up! How could we get "Nil points" in the sport round, (although "respect" for the tough love we were given by the organisers - no half marks for two out of three Olympic venues).

So good weekend even though I didn't feel up to taking part in the dance with a stranger competition this time, thus sparing someone that encounter.

Bit late as I have been away but are the comp finalists/results listed anywhere? I know Dale & Sarah won but wondered who else did well.

Carl Adams (from Ceroc Swindon) and his partner (sorry don't know her name) were the runners up. They were brilliant - my favourites
