    Something good for Mac's

Ok after yesterday's nightmare (all OK today touchwood )

And having to copy over literally 10's of 1000's of files, most of which I hadn't bothered to rename and most of which are labelled something like DSC03457.JPG, NEFF or MOV etc and re sort them, which took all of last night till 1am and most of this morning..

I thought, there has to be an easy way to batch rename, surely?

Anyway after a little research, I downloaded a programme called "A better Finder Rename 8"

And I have to say, its an absolute joy to use.

Its about £20 and well worth it IMO

There's a trial version, which allows you to change a batch of ten to try it, then you have to get an unlock key number, which in my case came immediately on payment

Damn, that looks really similar.. trust me to pay

Anyway, I'm still really pleased with mine and I'm not going to bother to D/L another thing, when this one works so well!

But and its still good advice for everyone else!

Most photographic editing bits of software have a batch renaming function in them: iview, PhotoMechanic, Photoshop's Bridge, some of which are available for a trial period. If you're renaming things, it can also help to have a system in place that works for you. It might, for instance, contain a reference to the time. So you might rename photographs from your grandma's 90th birthday taken this month as Gma90-909-xxx So no matter what time you look back in the future, every single file you took will have the month's reference ... and it's also helpful to edit out and remove the rejects and duplicates.

Wink Re: Something good for Mac's

For the inner DJ among you. (probably highlighted before but anyway) I caught the bug last summer at southport. Though itunes is okay wanted something i could fiddle with little more than just hit play in itunes.

    Anyway DJay 3.1 is out

    http://www.djay-software.com/

Wanted something i could fiddle songs with something Dj-ish in nature without costing a fortune. Proper DJ program i never knew how much these things cost!

Anyway for someone whos just doing tiny DJ slots / sack dj slots or just starting out. I think this is ideal for its price. Its got a trial so you can have a tinker. Its limited like but still gives you a good idea what it can do.

Just thought i'd put my hand up and say DJay is real sweet for its price.

Failing that you could go very cheap like a freebie...

Mixxx is freeware written by DJs who have IT Spod jobs.

    http://www.mixxx.org/

Now all Apple needs to do is invent something similar and incorporate it into Itunes for free.
