Sorry haven't been in here earlier, got a bit tied up...
What can I say that others haven't said already?? Absolutely Nothing!
Total to everyone who organised the event of the year....Roll on 2010!!
Are we going to repeat the bakeathon? - Must start testing recipes again
All my special thanks for dances are in the Message in a Bottle thread as usual.

Well, FWIW, I really enjoyed the day... There was much support and a nice surprise, also...
Lucky dip was, indeed, lucky and every dance with Claire was a joy. I have no idea if 2nd was deserved, but each dance just felt better and better...
I felt the judges did a great job, with less controversy in results here than in any other comp I know of...
Showcase was good crack, but it kinda showed a lack of tightness compared to Alex and Phil...
Congrats to Sheena and the mascot, and also the clowns, the runners and everyone giving their time for a worthy cause!!!!
Please, can we get new jokes for next year, though??!!
What a fab weekend ! Had a great time.
many thanks to Sheena & Franc,
My long suffering other half, Ashley
Lucky dip partner Pauline.
Well done to all the Winners.
P.S have posted pics.
What a brilliant day, haven't laughed so much in a long time my sides actually ached .
Well done to Sheena & Franck and the rest of team for organising it all.
I have put photos up so go have a look.
xx
... where are these pictures posted then? ...
Pretty late to be saying this, but many thanks to Sheena, her kilted mascot and everyone else involved in making it such a great day.
I guess I'm just getting jaded with big events and competitions, but for some reason I wasn't particularly looking forward to this event beforehand, which made it so much better when it all turned out so well.
It started looking up when I got there and Marlene proposed that we enter the 45+ competition, not having danced together for years and with zero practice together. (Can't think why she thought I was eligible for 45+, but there you go.) So that was another £20 for Alzheimers Scotland right away!
From there on, I thought the atmosphere was superb - yes, people were trying their hardest to dance well and to win (or at least not to fall over), but not once did I get any bad vibes from one competitor against another. Enjoyment was the name of the game and somehow the organisers managed to achieve a near-perfect combination of competition and relaxation. And the children (with their clown minders) provided the perfect backdrop.
There will be readers of this forum who didn't attend, perhaps because you thought it was all about cut-throat competition, or perhaps because you just didn't want to enter a competition, or perhaps because you thought it was too expensive. For next year, please, please reconsider - EVERYBODY who was there contributed to the feel-good atmosphere so if you could have been there and weren't then quite frankly you missed out. Somehow we need to communicate this better to the dozens of regular dancers at local classes in Scotland who weren't there.
And finally, to raise over £5000 for charity in these difficult times is a tremendous achievement.
If Franck pops that cork it'll blow Claire's head off!
Hahahahahahahaha!!!!
just a little be delayed - thought I had posted it but obviously hadn't
Just wanted to say thank you to Franck & Sheena and all the crew for a very well run day!!
Thank you to all those who offered support and encouragement on the day - it was a huge help.
It was fabulous to see so many lovely dancers both on and off the floor - hardly had any voice left on Sunday - after all the cheering with LBD & A
Showcase was a thrill and terror as always and a special thank you to Craig for being brave for me
and as always a special thank you to my dear dance partner with out who I wouldn't be able to do any of this.
Highlight of my day had to be my dinner date with a wee little dancing clown
All in all a fab day - only thing I would change would be the openeing of the blues room earlier and with bigger signs
Once again guys well done!!! Look forward to the next one!!!!
At last! Have been able to upload to YouTube some of the footage I took at the Champs. I have no idea how to put the link in (and I can live without knowing, for any IT buffs desperate to share!) but they are all entitled Ceroc Scottish Champs 2009, with the dancer names and category in the description following.
I have: Claire and Dave dancing Intermediate fast and slow tracks, and the moment their win was announced; Jillian and Alec, 45+, again fast and slow and win; Fiona and Charlie, fast and slow tracks; Caroline and Roland, dancing slow track in Intermediate; Lorna and Sam dancing to the instrumental track in the Open category; Claire and CJ dancing one of the heats of Lucky Dip; both Showcase dances (CJ & Yliander and Alex & Phil).
Its not Warner Brothers quality but its reasonable and not bad for my first effort. Next year I might even try to fade in and out!
Enjoy.
