Life in the UK test questions

Just looking at Life in the UK test questions. This is a test for people to pass to live in the UK. Well I have lived here all my life and just failed. No worries for me as I am a British Citizen. Not quite sure how my husband will do when he has to take the test next May.

Anyway have a go! Go to Google and type in "life in the uk test questions"
Let me know how you all get on..

Re: Life in the UK test questions

I did a test exam and I needed 18 out of 24 to pass.

    I got 13 out of 24, so I failed.

What crazy questions... does it really matter?

I was born in the UK and spent the first 35 years of my life in the UK, so does this mean I cannot return to the UK!!!!

    Is someone taking the pee?

Good luck to Mr D, he might need it!

Was 220v an option as it has often in the past been refered to as 220 to 240 v

i don't know anyone thats passed that yet, and my whole office took it out of curiosity - the questions are not relevant to most peoples lives.

It was standardised across Europe to 230V, including the UK. Close, but no cigar.

I was expecting questions like "what is the capital of England" etc.

actually we were both wrong i have just checked on the IET forum and its 230 +10% -6%
so it could be anywhere between 216V and 253V

I did pass (21 out of 24). I had a lucky guess on the proportion of children living with both parents but not the Welsh population percentage. Some of the questions did seem a bit off the wall and I'm not sure how knowing the answers to them would make someone more suited to living in Britain. I guess my random cultural dustbin of British memories is fairly close to whoever set those 24 questions. I think that knowing the culture of where you live is important but mainly for the happiness of the individual. I wonder if there are questions about the relative strengths of Korma, Madras, Vindaloo and Phall. Now there's a quintessentially British test and proof that cultures adapt as time goes by

Well I passed with 20/24 but some of the questions were ridiculously vague and I cannot see the relevance in knowing the answers to making you responsible citizen and some of the questions were stupidly easy. It seems to me from the questions the biggest concern is whether you understand the laws of the road (which could be irrelevant if you are a non driver). But I’m glad to see that knowing that the ingredients of Christmas pudding is important

Re: Life in the UK test questions

I got 21 but I just happen to know those particular questions

( I got the one wrong about the age of being able to drive a car/motorcycle- I'm positive my son had a 50cc motorbike at the age of 16, when he only held a provisional licence It says on the questionnaire you have to be 17)

Anyway, IMO simply knowing the answers to those questions, wouldn't make anyone more or less eligible to be accepted into this country

In a weird way, It appeared to me, that some of the questions chosen, are worded in a way to try to 'promote' living in Britain.

    This one is apparantly "TRUE"

Scottish bank notes and bank notes from Northern Ireland can be used anywhere in the UK.

having tried this often - it is certainly NOT true. Maybe they should add the word "technically"

Can I go to the toilet Miss?
Yes.... Where do you think you're going?
    To the toilet.
I said you can go. It's certainly possible. But you don't have my permission, so you may not.

Scottish and NI notes aren't even legal tender in Scotland and NI.

I thought it was now 230VAC +/-10% to fall in line with the EU...
