'I went to the funeral service for Jason Colacino today and
found it inspiring, amusing, tender and sad all at the same
time. Not really a somber event like I thought it might be.
Katie Boyle was holding up quite well and her parents did
remarkably well under the circumstances.
Parents should not have to bury their children. This happens
as it will, but too much for me.
The picture collages they had of Jason from a newborn to now
were very interesting and amusing. Shots of him with all of the
different hair styles through the years, especially before I knew
him were great.
Friends got up and spoke both of their experiences with him and
read posts people had written on the web. Gerry Zonca, yours
was one read, well written, and enjoyed by many there.
By the time I got home I was spent emotionally as these things do.
The latest word on the cause of his death was an enlarged heart
and a case of pneumonia.
One small story I overheard was his father asking a dance friend
about Jason coming home and practicing spinning in the kitchen for
hours and if this is what other swing dancers did. Well, most of
us don't, but if we did maybe we could spin like Jason. No, no
one could spin like Jason did. He was the most talented male
dancer I ever saw and was lucky to call him my friend.'
