    69p

69p is the sum the monarchy costs each person in the country but doesn't the security bill for protecting the royals around the clock

69p is not even going to but half a pint of beer

so is it worth bothering about

    Thanks for that.

    How about the first sentence?
69p each as a one off?
    69p in the pound?
    69p per day?
Do you mean that it doesn't include security costs?

Is it worth bothering about? - Do we have the choice now? If we did, how could we make that choice with a tiny piece of poorly structured information?

Sorry, but it doesn't cost 69p per person. Or, this is a colouring of the facts.

This would be on the basis of a UK population of about 62 million, and so £41m as a proportion would be about 2/3 of a pound.

and this will include children, pensioners, the unemployed and sick/disabled.

Ok, granted, it's not going to be a whole lot more ..... but certainly enough to buy half a pint!!!

    [I'd say around double-ish, at a guess]

But if you add the amount that is spent by organisations on preparation, panting and decorating for a royal visit, I bet they cost a lot lot more.
When the D of E visited my department at Edinburgh university (many years ago) the whole department spent at last a week in preparation
