Its a nice idea in a non competitive recession proof market but how long can weekenders turn away paying punters ?. ie women
It looks like a price war may develop but will this effect the gender balance
I see weekenders now say men and mixed couples only , doesnt this imply more women ?
Will it creep in with about 5% more then 10% more women at weekenders in 2010 etc ?
Will we go back to a Franco era when the only way a man could get off the dance floor was feign a heart attack ?
2010 interesting times

The other alternative is to get more women leading. I know that there are some Ceroc franchisees who consider this idea to be against the natural order of things, or some such tosh. But think about it....
Maybe at some point in the future we'll be booking not as men or women but as dancers who mainly lead or follow. After all, we don't really have ladies over, we have follows over.
Just a thought

I don't want to dance with women!
Call me old fashioned, but I like my leads to be men (I dance with Trouble when I'm desperate, but only if there are no blokes around and there's a tune I really want to dance to).
Women have long fingernails, bumpy norks that get in the way, swishy, totally inappropriate non health and safety jewellery and usually reek of perfume. Yuk! Dunno how you men put up with us!
Men should be offered cheaper tickets and single women should pay a lot more for their tickets.
Dons flack jacket and stands to.

Certain women, who are mediocre dancer's, like Lory, Lemoncake, Fletch,Batgirl, Caz all of the Scottish and Irish dancing ladies should pay more thanm us men. Just for the privelage of dancing with men, any men.
Seems fair to me.

5% is a smaller difference than 205 women to 195 men.
I'm fairly confident that a number of gender balanced or controlled weekenders have exceeded 10%. If so to creep in/end it, you'd have to go rather higher than that.
It wouldn't be wrong for organisers to adopt a more suitable measure of balance.
Targeting balanced numbers in (non star teacher) modern jive classes would do the job.
The proposition:-
Come to our weekender, where we really really need men, and you'll get lots of practice rotating and standing out in the classes.
Killer sales pitch.
I'm with DT on this. I can and do lead as a taxi, and at class venues where there's a shortage of men (would rather lead in these situations than spend time sitting out). However, I wouldn't choose to do this as I don't get a buzz from leading (plus I'm more of a leader doing moves, rather than being musical and getting into the music/dance), plus then I'd miss out on all the fabulous dances with men.
We're just going to have to recruit more men into dancing.
