    outdoor dancing.

I was wondering if anyone else had experiance of doing this or any suggestions......

I want to put a temp outdoor dance floor in the beer garden of one of my venues. It's to go on the grass, has to be light, portable and easy to assemble and take apart as it will be placed down every week.

The grass is pretty flat. Was thinking maybe some type of lino????

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

I looked into similar about two years ago, here is the thread, but there is not much in it.

    http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=13815

i ended up getting Prima sports matting, which was damaged, and not suitable for repeated lifting/uplifting.

Prima also do something which they call a portable dancefloor with flashing lights, it does not seem to be on their website, and was very expensive, they did have a non flashing version which i had a couple of samples of. if you look at their website it is in the middle picture of the home page - it is shown in stripey solours, rectangle not hexagon. The biggest problem, and you can see it from the photo, is it is slippy, but not flat, i think ladies heels would snag on it. but they used to have pictures of people dancing on it. They would probably send you sample at no charge.

I had a very bad buying experience with Prima, and i would advise you to tread carefully, and be very specific and satisfied before you part company with money.

One of the problems with interlocking tiles is the lugs, they really need to be robust if they are to be continually reused.

If you use lino, it would need to be on hard standing or heels would just go through it.

I would suggest looking at portable lightweight roadway, try marquee hirers and ask them , I eventually bought replacement freedraining sport tile, as used on cruise ships, supplied by TACT Enviro, TACTTile.

Hope this is of some help, good luck, John

    Marquee dance floor? http://www.countymarquees.com/pricing/furniture.htm

Portable, fairly easy to assemble and take apart .... quite heavy though.
The pieces that I've seen assembled were about 4ft sqr. ok for a strong body ... far easier with two, not-so-strong.

Seems to work ok ... but, obviously, not as good as a fixed indoor dance floor.

Same stuff as the upstairs venue in Skeggy, I'd say (with a choice of finishes)

Stairman & co put up an outdoor floor at the Kirriemuir blues weekend which worked really nicely. Warm and sunny in the day, cool in the evening when the indoors was too hot. We were lucky with the weather too.
