Stew's ticket has gone, so if anyone has a male and female ticket going please let me know. Having said that if its a below par ticket, don't want it (shudders at thought of what that accommodation would be like).

Happy to share if we can get a room or take the chalet.

    Thanks
    Phil

Also meant to say as a heads up the M6 around Birmingham has now got 4 sets of 50mph zones (with averaging speed cameras) so it may be wise to shoot up the M1 and across via Stoke. If you take the Toll road you will only hit one of the 50mph zones. It added a fair bit of time to my journey homewards yesterday and that was in moving traffic.

The M1 also has a brand new 50mph zone (with the ubiquitous average speed cameras) just before you head off the M1 onto the A50 to Stoke. It's quite a short stretch but I don't know what it will be like on a Friday evening...

I have difficulty in seeing how it would be adding time where traffic was moving below 50mph.

Outside of road works, I believe the idea of these zones is to speed up average traffic flow in congested conditions.

So, if it isn't for road works, it may well be good for a Friday evening journey.

The bit I was thinking of is for road works (with a contraflow), as are at least some of the M6 ones.

I think the purpose of the M6 ones (and possibly the M1 stretch as well) is to add signage and revamp the hard shoulder so that they can switch on variable compulsory speed limits and also use the hard shoulder as an active lane when needed (like they do on the M42 and possibly some other roads now).

So once they're done, there will be speed limits which should aid traffic flow in the way you suggest.

And I have tickets, many thanks to Jenny and the last minute offer from Jim, if only he had called about an hour earlier.

Me and the wife are going!

So now that I know what a few of you look like, I might actually be able to make the forum meeting, although still have this forum name problem

I'm hearing of an awful lot of people who have tickets but are now looking for accommodation.... should be interesting to see what the numbers are like. On that note if there is anyone with a vacant chalet I know a lass and lad who still haven't secured anywhere to sleep yet...
