even connected to pc via USB, RIEN!!

Is a 120gig thin one. Months old. I can't find a reset switch (which was a wee hole in the older thicker models).

I know its a silly question but you have tried looking here, haven't you. No doubt it'll instruction on how to reset your model. I think with mine you have to hold the middle and bottom button down together for about 30secs.. something like that anyway.

With my old one you used to have to just let the battery go completely flat then connect it to the computer and it was fine. With my new one The hold your nose and toes while pressing twenty other buttons worked!

Sorry this is no help but i am putting off finishing packing!

    Cool Re: dead iPod

When my son's iPod died it turned out to be the click wheel had given up the ghost. You could see everything, but not select anything. Replacement from eBay was about £8 I seem to recall. Easy job too.

    Re: dead iPod

It's happened to mine. Funnily enough, my 60Gb Classic which normally sits in the car gave up the ghost on the same day that Michael Jackson went to the great concert hall in the sky. I only get the sick iPod symbol now. I've tried resetting to disk mode but now luck. I'm resigned now to a visit to the Cambridge store to see if it can be resuscitated.

Luckily I have my iPod Touch or I'd be lost. How can a guy do a train journey without his blues playlist.....................

Think that means there is a problem with your HD, should be replaced if under warranty, not sure how much they'd charge but you could always have a go yourself

Definitely outside warranty. So home repair sounds like a good option. I'll search for the bits. Thanks

    Re: dead iPod

It's called 'built-in obsolescence' - and basically it is a strong signal to buy a new one.

When I could see my 3G iPod was moving in that direction (alive but battery charge would only last a couple of hours) I realised it's time had come to be Freecycled and it found a new home.

Getting a shiny new iPod can be a moving experience, eg. see http://www.cerocscotland.com/forum/s...4&postcount=14

(although clearly not as immortal as JiveLad mentioned in that post..........).

And an interesting article today on Apple iPods and obsolescence - is Apple promoting a throwaway culture?
