On Question Time the other night, one of the panel was saying that it was generally considered among MP's to be ok to milk the system to make up for the fact that the salary's they were receiving a few years back were low. As the salaries have improved over the years, the habit of milking the system has just carried on through the ranks, so to speak.

I think the ones that have been caught out having actually broken the rules should suffer, but the ones who just milk it for all it's worth, may be greedy bastards, but they haven't broken the law. The fact that this information has been made public, will stop them taking the plss from now on. I don't see what the big deal is.

Maybe my attitude has been coloured by the letters I've received since losing my job saying that Parliament has decided I only need £60 a week to live on, while the members of that Parliament apparently cannot do without £2,500 home entertainment systems - IN THEIR SECOND HOME, not to mention several thousand quid TO CLEAN THEIR MOATS. Even the old socialist Tam Dalyell wanted £18,000 worth of book shelves.

    Maybe.
