And there was me thinking that this might be you announcing you were joining the ranks of the employed again
The world is insane.
Peaches Geldof is the 'It girl'? They're kidding - right? I've never seen a picture of the - OK, girl - that made her look significantly more pretty than - um - Vicky Pollard.
OK, maybe it's not the world that's insane. Maybe just Britain. Maybe just London. Maybe just the Mail Online.
But sheesh. Clara Bow on her worst day would make Peaches Geldof on her best look like a - a - like a - like her father.

What you doing reading the Daily Mail? You know it's not good for your blood pressure.
Is there an official definition on what an "it girl" is, does or looks like?

Well if you look at former "It Girls" such as Tara Palmer Tomkinson and Paris Hilton, I think the term suits Peaches well....they're all useless airheads who are only famous because of family connections, too much money and a penchant for appearing at every celebrity event they can get an invite to.
Barry, this country has been insane for quite a while now this is nothing new (we used to eccentric so much classier). People worship the mediocrity.
My advice is stop reading the tabloids, stop reading the Mail and chill
It all becomes clear...

I hadn't seen Tara Palmer-Wasteofspace referred to as an It-girl. From the film (which I have seen, mirabile dictu) featuring Clara Bow the clear idea is that 'it' is that indefinable something that sets some women apart from all their peers - part style, part sex-appeal, part mystery.
Neither TPT nor Peaches Geldof have either style, sex appeal or mystery. 'It girl' now seems to equate to 'annoying publicity hound without redeeming qualities', according to Wikipedia's definition.
Well, you learn something every day.
I think in common-speech - "IT girl" means a reasonably attractive, wealthy, independant young woman in the media spotlight. A female playboy in other words. I've never heard anything to suggest they have any other points in common with other "IT girls". If FiFi and Peaches are now "IT girls", then I can see why it needs a redefinition
