Re: Has the novelty worn off

Speaking as a forumite who disappeared a long time ago, basically it was to do with using other websites more. When I was active here I was looking at the status several times per day, but when I started using other websites I had less time to spend here. At the same time, the number of posts per day increased, so that I could no longer keep up with everything here, whereas originally I read pretty much every post. I entered a phase of only looking at "interesting" threads, but because there was an increasing number of members I didn't really know, fewer and fewer became interesting until I stopped looking. Of course now that I'm not in the UK I have no real reason to look at the thread's on "who's going where" etc as that just makes me jealous!

    LOL

    Would ya get a grip.
A previous post (on another thread) made by Andy McGregor in which he refered to his "important work on the forum" stuck in my mind. He was saying it tongue in cheek, so I reminded him of it.
The forum is for chat, gossip, updates, the occasional disagreements and more importantly seeing where people are going at weekends so i can choose to go or not to go.

Its nice to see reviews of places as well. If people choose to abandon it for other reasons then thats their choice but it would be a shame to loose something that does keep the normal people informed of dance news and realise its not to be taken seriously or in anyway personally. JEEZ.
Any personal disagreements on the forum should IMO stay on the forum.

There's no reason why they should boil over away from the forum and cause ill feeling at dances.

On the whole I would agree with this, but sometimes things that are said get too personal and it's difficult to separate them. I've always been of the opinion that people's true self shines through better on here than on the few occasions you get to talk to them at a dance.

Re: Has the novelty worn off

Novelty hasn't worn off - at least not yet - hence me haunting the forum for half of today... In my case my visibility is mainly to do with the amount of work I have to do on any one day (My workload can vary wildly, between all day on the forum or two months solid of not a moment to spare.) Family stuff is meaning I'm not on the dance floor as much as I would like - but that will work itself out and I'll be back terrrorising the Glasgow class nights and Glasgow and / or Edinburgh parties as before.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

I think in the main, you are wrong about this. Words are just words. Actions are worth far more.
