    Runaway scooter carries off woman!

I had to laugh at this article on the bbc website tonight about a woman who`s mobilty scooter refused to stop apparently! luckily she`s ok so i think it`s ok to have a giggle at the story.....

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/7981904.stm

    Quote highlights include

    she "disappeared off the radar".

Officers later found her heading along the A3075 towards Newquay.

Suddenly she passed me at full tilt," Mr Bishop said.
"I shouted after her but she is a bit deaf. I couldn't chase her as I've had a triple heart bypass

Mrs Bishop said she was not sure how she got separated from her husband.
"I just lost him. I was half asleep to tell you the truth," she explained.

    Those mobility scooters hey.....

When I was an apprentice on of my mates came in very late. His story was that a lorry had braked suddenly in front of his motor bike and he had run into the back of it, wheel under the back, handlebars flush to the rear. As the lorry settled after braking it trapped his front wheel. The loory then drove off with him helplessly in tow. He had travelled for miles down a backroad unable to get the drivers attention, before a motorist flagged the lorry down.

I also really liked the bit where it turned out that the police unit that just happened to be the one to intercept her was an armed police unit.

That just proves that if we had even more armed police that more people on runaway scooters would be safe .

*best northern voice impression of the nan in Benidorm*

I don't do walking when I'm on holiday.

Those mobility scooters are bloody dangerous. You can't read the local paper at my mum's in Clacton, without reading about some old codger losing control and dropping 10 feet onto the beach and killing themselves. Honestly, it happens all the time!

I'm dredding my Dad getting doddery and having to have one. Do you get points on your disabled badge for being drunk in charge?

Don't they come with airbags, crumple zones, ABS and so on?
