    You know Dan?

Anyone know the identity of Dan who paid a visit to the Perth class last night? Lovely, lovely dancer! In the short conversation we had I gleaned that he has been dancing for many years, all over the country. He is working in the Perth at the moment so took the opportunity to come to the class, and he'd also gone to the Dundee class earlier in the week. Not from the area, I think probably top half of England, about 5'7", stong, stocky build with dark hair and a small dark beard. And no, I'm not looking for a man!! But i watched him dance with one of the other Perth girls and thought they'd make a fabulous competition team!! Just wondered if he was ever looking for a partner. And of course, whether he's up this way often, cos if not, the whole idea is a non-starter. Anyway, Dan, if you're out there, thanks for the lovely dance last night (even if I made the mistake of thinking it had ended when it was just a pause!) and would you contact me please? Or if anyone knows who he is, let him know there's a woman looking for him!!

I danced with him in Dundee on Wednesday - as you say, a nice man and lovely dancer. I think he lives Manchester way, and this is the first time he's worked this far North.

    Re: You know Dan?

Yes you are all right it was me.

I had a great time in both Perth and Dundee. Thank you to all the ladies I managed to dance with.

I am back in Scotland for the next two weeks and then wont be back again for a little while. Tuesday and wednesday night next week in Ayr and then monday and tuesday night in Inverness the following week.

Unfortunately Crystaltips I am out of the competition circuit and dont really have the time to devote to it. I am sure Claire will find a partner as she is a lovely dancer. I wish her luck finding someone.

Lovely to see you again Dan. Thanks for the dances

(sorry Haylz but you'd better get used to it if you're going to go out with a dancing leg-end!)

    Re: You know Dan?

I am used to him dancing with other women, but I don't have to get used to other women being flirtatious with him. In my experience it is customary to say thank you for the dance on the dancefloor directly after the dance and that is enough.

In your experience??? You've only been on the forum a few weeks.

It is perfectly customary for people to thank people for dances on here and has nothing to do with flirtation. It's one of the things that's great about the forum and the dancing community in general. Dancers can get in touch with people all over the country and find a warm, friendly welcome wherever they travel to.

As for the flower smilie, it's just a nice gesture. It doesn't mean :I want to have your babies: (although if someone could invent a smilie that does mean that, it'd be great! )

But have been dancing longer than I've been on the forum

It's all a bit sad for me, the whole drama thing, and there are so many amateur dramatics within the 'modern jive community'. I suppose since it's not the only thing in my life, it aint that big a deal

Thanks Haylz for making me feel really crap for saying thanks for a dance!!

It is common practice to say thanks to visitors to venues, but obviously you have not encountered that yet.

It was just a dance and a thank you for the dance and the visit.

No wonder people don't post on the forum if this is the reception they receive when saying thanks!!!!
