Things to do in Stoke on a Sunday afternoon ............?

Maxine, Jay Jay & I are staying up in Stoke on Saturday night - between Stokie's two bashes this weekend.

We will have a few hours free on Sunday afternoon between being chucked out of our room at the Stoke Talke Travelodge and attending the Tea Dance that starts at 5pm. Has anyone any suggestions for what there is for us to see & do in that time ? I have had a quick look at the VisitStoke website and there seem to be loads of museums & visitor centres about - can anyone recommend anything in particular ? We don't particularly want to do any shopping, but we will want to eat at some point.

Anyone else staying up there that wants to get together to do the "tourist" bit mob-handed ?

last year after the midland champs - I went and visited the various china & crystal shops

but didn't have time to do the more tourist stuff - have heard very good things about the wedgewood? visitor centre which is a bit out of stoke.

    Not Only, But Also...
If you wish to stop over with your family on the Saturday night then there's plenty to do on a Sunday in Stoke-on-Trent for kids (of all ages). For example there's Waterworld, one of the country's biggest water theme parks. Maybe you fancy a day out at Alton Towers, just 10 minutes up the road! Take a stroll around Trentham Monkey Forest where you walk inside the monkey's enclosure to see these cheeky chaps up close. You can go shopping in the Talke Outlet village, visit one of the many pottery factory shops to bag a bargain or take some time to visit Trentham Gardens with it's huge Italian gardens, extensive shops and if you're brave enough take a flight in the Trentham Eye. There's also Stapley Water Garden and Bridgemere Garden World, both multi-award winning HUGE garden centres just a short drive out of town.... and those attractions are just for starters!
I love the Dance Mob idea of meeting up en mass at one of these places. I can highly recommend Trentham Monkey World as a really fun experience (then I would stop off for something to eat at the Toby Carvery (address is on our accommodation page (sorry about the triple brackets))).

Looking forward to seeing you guys this weekend

I’m with you Trouble, I love Alton Towers and a good ride on a roller coaster, get the adrenalin going.

So much more of a thrill than a museum

My uncle lived in Stoke for 2 years, and as a child I remember going to Trentham gardens.

Plus Alton Towers, also remember going to Sainsbury's

Not sure we would have enough time there to justify the £29 admission fee eek !

The Monkey Forest sounds good - might be weather-dependent however.

Alton Towers is CLOSED until April 1st !!

That section of what to do in Stoke was written with the April 11th freestyle in mind where there's going to be a second room for the Under 18's Dance Party (by which time Alton Towers would be open). Sorry for any confusion... still, if you're here on the 11th

The title of this thread reminds me of that Warren Zevon song "Things to do in Denver when you're dead".

If you do the shops at Trentham Gardens - there's plenty of free parking and if you get bored (?) of shopping then the Monkey Forest is just two minutes away
