Well I have booked and am really looking forward to it. Have been for the last 5 or 6 years and is always a good day/night. It’s also now in East London which is perfect for me, although I did really love the old Hammersmith Palais had a fantastic atmosphere.
I am also taking part (can’t really call it competing) in the Dance with a Stranger.
Well who else is intending to go and are you competing
I would like to go to this, - just need to persuade a friend to join me as I don't fancy going alone.
I was half tempted by the lucky dip, - a competition sounds a bit nerve racking to me though so probably won't
I'm still trying to get someone to go with me as well but I do know the venue funnily enough and it's fabulous! I went to a company dinner/dance there last year and it's the most beautiful building. I think it was originally a theatre built in the 1930's but its been completely renovated in art deco style and the interior is stunning.
It's not too far from Brighton but still a very long day even from here. I'd love to come though so I'll get my persuasive hat on round and about!
Would a kind mod please correct Maxine's dodgy spelling in the title ? I'm not sure I can cope with seeing this up until May (and beyond).
twitch, twitch, twitch
Not sure yet from me. I really enjoyed it last year, although didn't really dance as much as I thought I would. Was hoping to do the dance with a stranger, but can't organise anything until I work out what's happening that bank holiday as it clashes with my mum's birthday.
I've never been to a UK Ceroc comp, what is the lucky dip exactly?
Back in Australia, Dance with a Stranger is set along side-by-side with Coupled dance competition, DwaS couples are still adjudicated by a panel of judges.
So, is the definition of Dance with a Stranger different in the UK Ceroc champs here then? i.e. Maxine's words to the effect that its not really a competition?
Ill be there fatter, older and slower
Sorry SB was really busy at work today, should not have gone on the forum and rushed this so that’s when I don’t think but just type. Yes it should be who’s you are quite correct please forgive me. More importantly are you going? Hope it wann't too painful
This is very much a contest it’s just me being flippant. Lucky Dip or DWAS the same thing it is in heats and judged. There is also a new contest this year called Top Cats similar but you are judged as an individual rather than a couple and will be given different partners throughout the contest
Shall be there... stretching off after the back op will be good!!!
Oh, and maybe even a sensible costume for the showcase this season!!!!
Yes I will go and hope to do the boat on the Monday too.
I loved the Champs last year and had a blast dancing in the Marble room upstairs. It looks like we can do the same thing this year too.
I think a hotel might be in order. Any suggestions?
Hoping to go to this with my mate Donna... need to figure out accommodation as well... anyone any ideas? any cheap hotels nearby or can put us up... we are both house trained
I'm hoping to go but really depends on jetlag, Plus I know a few people that are entering various events so I'd like to give them some support
oops...
Can Ijust point out I meant to press the option for "No, can't make it this time." and NOT the ""Yes! Competing, wish me Luck!" option.
A mis-aimed click.. sorry for any confusion
Twirly and I usually go to spectate. I think Twirly is still planning to go but all I know for sure is I'm not
