I got CutePDF without admin rights. Can you not just get that again?
I used to have CutePDF on my laptop until work decided to "clean" it up
I used it to save archived emails (from Lotus Notes) onto CD so I could file correspondence without wasting 100 trees and even more print cartridges
Unfortunately I don't have admin rights anymore
Does anyone know of any free PDF writers that don't need admin rights to install
I've tried adding a postscript printer so I can print to file but don't have the ability to add a "local" printer
Can anyone help??

Nope - cutePDF won't reinstall as it's asking for me to be logged on as an administrator
I was able to reinstall Pidgin however
not sure if this will do what you want

Hi Helen
I have used pdf995 this is very good and free if you can put up with one pop up which is easy to cancel..

Thanks everyone for your help so far
Hmmm, I'll need to see if I can get to a word doc first from lotus notes but it could be a way round it
Unfortunately this won't run as I don't have administrator privileges
Doesn't run either as it won't let me set up the printer driver
Anyone else? It's like a Krypton Factor challenge!
Helen
Have you asked your IT admin to add something for you? If they've locked down your laptop properly you could be searching for ages for something that you might be able to install and run whereas a quick call to IT Support might get you an 'approved' approach quickly.

Haven't used their writer but we moved to using their free reader after problems with printing from Adobe Acrobat and version 3 (I think) was suddenly full of all kinds of unnecessary extras and nagging (at least compared with v2) V disappointing that they would take the worst of Adobe's product and emulate that too
It may be that your IT department does not want you take your emails off-site.
You can install programs onto a USB stick at home and run them from there if the IT department has not blocked that. (They should have)

The best solution is, assuming Google Docs is not blocked, upload your word doc to there and simple download as a PDF.
I think the main issue I have is that it's not a word document in the first place
I archive my emails (lotus notes based) so that I can print out correspondence to file at my sites at the end of a study (I work in clinical research)
Unenvironmental way is to print this out. I had been converting to PDF (using cutepdf) and burning onto a CD
Now that's gone, I need something else to do the job - something like cutepdf was perfect
My lack of administrator privileges isn't allowing me to install any exe file or even add a new printer driver so I can print to file
I can create pdf's on my machine by scanning documents in but think that printing reams and then scanning in isn't a viable option
Think I might have to go back to IT and try and get admin rights for the day (I did it last time by "reinstalling" my printer that had stopped working )
I think it's crazy we're not allowed a pdf creator (and have complained several times)
If you use googledocs you can convert into pdf from anything you have.
If you have existing printers installed are they of no use ?
While the output is not in PDF format I believe there is usually a print to file option.
Depending on what you have installed, quite a few printer drivers have options to output in postscript, some can output images, and some other printer formats can also be read by converter programs.
Normally lack of admin rights won't stop you running an executable (for example a converter program), from your user directories.
I do not think it helps in this case, but this may help somebody in future.
If you go through the set up printer wizard, choose print to file, and then choose the printer as "Generic, text only" what happens when you "print" is that a text file is created, which can be read in any text editor or word processing program. This is also a useful step for getting otherwise inaccessible data into other applications, a database for example.
Helen, I only just came across this now, not sure if you found a solution to your problem.
If you don't have administrator rights then at the minimum you should be able to run a program executable. With that in mind, try Tomahawk PDF+:
Tomahawk PDF+ (Freeware version. No installation required. Just download the zip file and extract to any folder of your choice)
Failing that, there's an online PDF conversion site called freepdfconvert
It claims to support Lotus Notes documents, amongst other format types, so that maybe of interest to you.
