    "Ah Glasshopper!

If chalet is empty - how can one tell if is empty female chalet, or empty male chalet?"

    A50 closed on Friday night

Just a quick heads-up for anyone planning to come across from the M1 via the A50 on Friday night.

A stretch of the A50 westbound from the A6 to the A38 is being closed at 8pm on Friday 29th until 7am next morning. The Highways Agency reckons it will add 15 mins delay (I guess the diversion will be round the Derby ring road).

Interesting 33% cash back offer for bookings of equal gender for the next one - curious about this statement (my emphasis):

If one of your friends for example is not able to make the event or is late, then you will be able to collect your keys and enjoy the weekend, but you will not be entitled to the cash back. This requirement is necessary to protect the integrity of the gender balancing, which unfortunately is being outwitted by some people desperate to attend our events.
How are they "outwitting" the gender balancing? Are people really that desperate to go to a Ceroc weekender?

Well it was more overbalanced than outwitted at Blush.

However it may be it isn't much of a problem at the moment (there is often an element of exaggeration/poetic licence in these booklets), but at a 33% discount (giving effectively only a 33% premium if you cannot find males to book with), it would be a tempting prospect, so it is hard to fault the measure.

Certainly very helpful to have the full brochure beforehand.

The DJ lineup with a couple of very decent external (or at least previously external) DJs looks improved.

However the class lineup is relatively disappointing.

Yes believe it or not there are a number of ladies who book two places, one male and one female, with no intention of adhering to the gender balance. However, on current w/e's it's not a major problem because the overall cost of buying 2 places to gain one entry is fairly self limiting. The concern obviously then was if Mike reduced the cost to provide the most cost effective w/e he could in the current financial climate that more people would go this route and throw the gender balance out - hence the registration requirement.

As regards the 'proof reading' apparently the font had to be changed to get the best result when loading to PDF which meant that some words magically joined up or went completely awol and the odd letter at the end of sentences decided to disappear - think that it is/has been looked at now - but also think that it's a great step to have the booklet available online before the event so that dancers can print off relevant bits if they want.

One sleep to go and I am having a complete disaster - I have lost my weekender list! I have searched high and low and I just can't find it anywhere -it's going to take me forever to pack without it. Plus I will be plagued with the thoughts of what have I forgotten! Of course I have compiled another one, but I'm bound to have missed stuff off, the other one has been four years in the making!

On a slighltly more positive note I have just been delivered a space hopper!

Lory you are a star, thank-you! I started with your list and then Mum came home and as Mum's always do solved the problem. List was in my old diary! Being a teacher I use a midyear diary and have just changed to new diary! So glad I didn't throw out the old one! Have now typed list up and saved it and backed it up!
