I've got a Bose SoundDock (http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/landing-...able/index.jsp), it was expensive but superb quality sound and I wanted something that would run on it's own battery for ages. I now have to fight my daughters just to get to use it myself.
A mate has the B&W Zeppelin (http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/display.aspx?infid=2466), even more expensive but looks and sounds great.
When I was looking to buy I stood in Tesco and browsed through the magazines (T3, Stuff etc and any hi-fi audio publications), they normally all have top-10 lists that are really good for giving you a short description and comparing between cost, quality etc. A link to one of T3's reports gives their top 10 for docks http://www.t3.com/features-gallery?articleId=7141.
I suppose it's horses for courses, depends what you want from it in terms of quality, portability etc
