Also, if you've got one of those cool gel pads that you keep in the freezer for cooling injuries, use that on the balls of your feet when you go back to the chalet (if the fridge has an ice box in it, which sadly not all do). It really helps take any inflammation down. And some people swear by ibruprofen gel on the balls of the feet too - though maybe these are both more important for women as we tend to spin more than the men.

Also, take lots of socks. For some strange reason I always seem to run out of socks - despite taking almost every pair I own

Yes, have used this as well.

The 'sit down when not dancing' has actually been best thing I've found. I remember one weekender when I sat on the Mon morning with sore feet, not wanting to 'give up' and go to bed - but I had to. (Then had to walk to the train a few hours later). I've made a point of 'managing' my feet since then and it really made a difference.

Ah - memories of my first weekender (which was the first SP)... doing loads of workshops, meeting forumites for the first time, seeing blues for the first time and hiding behind the pillars so no-one asked me to dance as I hadn't a clue what to do, buying dance shoes... DavidY asking me to dance two nights in a row (which was a real confidence boost as I thought I couldn't be that terrible if someone asked me more than once!), and coming home and realising I absolutely had to do it all again soon!

Yeah, changing socks can make a huge difference.

At Skegness I sat on a bench outside at 4am barefoot in Feb, and believe it or not, they took 5 minutes to cool down.

DTS and Batgirl can testify to that.
