They have had that before, doesnt usually

Last year I didnt feel it was like it use to be, however out of tradition will probably go.

Congrats and hope you enjoyed your podium

Mind you, I didn't say it was difficult to come second

Actually, I didn't even say it was difficult to come first. Just it's one that I would like to win being my old manor. It was also the first comp I entered being a complete beginner. I think Dale won that year.

Re: Who's going to "The Masked Ball of the East"? (9 May 2009)

I'd love to be there, this event has special memories for me, (even if one of them is losing a much loved dance shoe ) But I'm doubtful that I'll have made a full recovery from a nasty bout of flu in time, and going along coughing and sneezing at a packed venue could lead to a (well deserved) lynching!

And if anyone needs the trophy back, sorry, I can't help there. I've not seen it for a couple of years, but I know a lady who may be able to help...

Unhappy Re: Who's going to "The Masked Ball of the East"? (9 May 2009)

I have been to this event in years gone by and enjoyed it immensely.

However, standards have slipped. CerocMetro (who are running the event) are doing a shocking job of promoting the Ball. As someone who lives in the Midlands, I rely on the web based dance directories to see what's going on...'uk-jive' has NOTHING listed for this event...and it's only 2 days away! 'Lyndaslist' has a note to 'ring' for more info!! The single link on CerocMetro's website (in the Calendar, nothing in the 'News' section!) is broken.

I rang CerocMetro on Tuesday and couldn't get through to anyone who could tell me about the event, but was asked for my number so someone could call me by the next morning (yesterday). Nothing as yet.....!

I have managed to see the promo flyer for the Masked Ball now (via this Forum) and see that CerocMetro want £15 or £20 for entry!!! How much? And for what exactly? Hammersmith (on the same night) is also a 8pm-1am event, has two rooms and costs £10! Yes, there is a DWAS comp and £500 prize money, but if you don't want to compete, then you are heavily subsidising those that do! Or you're just lining the pockets of CerocMetro.

Have I missed something here, but a good event is now being mismanaged and we dancers are being ripped off. I shall vote with my feet and either go to Hammersmith or maybe Sara White Blues Night in Peterborough - this event is gaining huge popularity - I've only been to two and am not affilated to them or any dance company. Fair treatment (including pricing) and professional running of dance events works with me.

Good luck to all who go to the Masked Ball - let us know how it goes and indeed if they manage to fill the large venue, given the shoddy promo effort.

I don't understand it because I get weekly email updates from ceroc metro and the Masked Ball is advertised on the first page in huge bold type, with a link to the flyer.

Maybe you need to subscribe to ceroc metro to get the full calender?
