Unfortunately the interruption is from perhaps 3 miles north to 9 miles south of Ainsdale.
Great for London Midland. However the relevant Virgin trains now have a first stop around 150-200 miles from London.
Perhaps you meant Birmingham or Manchester rather than London, or it changed in the new timetable.
As they're not advanced/buy ahead/single train specific tickets, they can be purchased as normal from the ticket office or machines.
Virgin used to stop at Watford. Must have changed.Great for London Midland. However the relevant Virgin trains now have a first stop around 150-200 miles from London.
On my return ticket it tells me to change at Liverpool South Parkway. Not outbound though. That journey takes 3hours 2 mins.Perhaps you meant Birmingham or Manchester rather than London, or it changed in the new timetable. But why are they called Super off Peak tickets? As they're not advanced/buy ahead/single train specific tickets, they can be purchased as normal from the ticket office or machines.
On GNER (now National Express) and GWR (now First) Super is the cheapest.
The other reason I bought a ticket in advance, was because last time, the train I wanted carrying Chef pulled out while I was still in a horrendous queue.
I don't like Virgin trains, the design is pokey and there's a lack of luggage storage space.
Are you going Frodo?

Almost everything changed in January for Virgin.
Simple Fares With the introduction of 'simple' it got beyond me.
Even the 'Advanced' name (Advanced ticket type vs buying in advance) is confusing. The other reason I bought a ticket in advance, was because last time, the train I wanted carrying Chef pulled out while I was still in a horrendous queue.
But the electric ones quite successfully convey the intended 'like a plane' experience.I don't like Virgin trains, the design is pokey and there's a lack of luggage storage space.
Only the 4th poll option is reasonably accurate. Are you going Frodo?
I'm still after a lift to/from Southport if anyone wants my company...
I think Dundee Dancer is looking for car share buddies, but you'd have to get yourselves to Edinburgh first, as that's where he lives.

DundeeDancer, I'm keen to hear about your Southport travel plans as soon as you can confirm them, cheers!
Two seats available from Edinburgh to Blush.
Planning on leaving Edinburgh at 1pm on the Friday.
Planning on coming back from Southport late Monday morning.
Hi - hope I'm not hijacking this thread - but due to car problems I'm urgently looking for a carshare from the SOUTH WEST, one way, (Plymouth, but can be dropped off elsewhere)
Please contact me on 0******** if you can help!
