How do you eat yours?

I'm sitting here being constantly reminded by people's facebook status updates that it's Shrove Tuesday (aka Pancake Day)

Now I'm fairly boring and like mine either with lemon & sugar or maple syrup

How do you like yours?
Is there any other toppings I should try?

I'm obviously not quite with it at the moment....... I didn't have a clue it's Shrove Tuesday until I bought milk and nutella from my local corner shop, and the guy at the till winked, and said 'so it's nutella on pancakes for you today, eh?'

I do love nutella on pancakes, but that's not what it was for. However, it got me thinking of pancakes, and my favourites: Simple lemon and sugar ones are delicious, but my all-time Norwegian favourite is my mum's home made wild blueberry jam and chreme fraiche. YUMMY!!

I didn't have any today (can't be bothered to make them just for myself), but the last time I had some (for breakfast, the morning after the Glasgow Valentine's party (thanks Claire S & pmjd)) I had one with cold rhubarb crumble. Weird? A little. But I really liked the different textures. And hey, life's for experimenting...

Generally I'm a golden syrup/vanilla ice cream person.

In the good old days when Radars was still open in Aberdeen - they did a Brie Pancake. Mmmmmm hot, oooooozy cheese and lopts of black pepper

My pancakes are served with melted butter and brown sugar.

I did not have any today 'cos I iz tryin to loze wate.

There used to be a fab restaurant in Cambridge - Hobbs Pavilion. I vaguely knew the people who ran it (my ex-wife had shared a house with one of the waiters). Started off serving nothing but pancakes - in the Normandy style. Gradually introduced a few - a very few - non-pancake dishes.

There was the Work, rest and play - sliced Mars Bar and whipped cream - and the Creme egg - you guessed it. Chocolate and whipped cream; bananas and whipped cream; maple syrup and whipped cream; chocolate, bananas and whipped cream; chocolate, maple syrup and whipped cream; chocolate, maple syrup, bananas and whipped cream...

Not to mention the savoury pancakes - the beef stroganoff, the Florentine (eggs, cheese and spinach) the Arnold Bennett (eggs and smoked salmon).

It's closed now (replaced by some conveyor belt trendy thai restaurant) - but I have such fond memories...

I've not had pancakes for ages - I used to like going to the Dutch Pancake Restaurant in Manchester just down from the Cinema. Lovely If its savoury - sausage : if its sweet - strawberry jam or just freshly made with butter

Scarface was really bad at it and ruined the first one so i took over and we stood over the pan and ate them as they came hot off the over, sharing each one.

Lemon and sugar, shared and fed to each other whilst cooking fresh ones... cant beat it. x

I have to say that I usually like to have mine with sugar and lemon but last night I had something different and had them with nutella, banana and a scoop of ice-cream and it was lovely!

Dashed out to WCS last night so there weren't any pancakes to be had at Chez Darcy.

However ... tonight is another story. I am plotting some lemon and sugar traditional ones and perhaps some with cherries with vanilla ice cream (if there are some cherries in the cupboard) or some nutella ones.

I shall see what Himship would like and try to cater accordingly

Eaten fresh and hot, landed straight from pan to plate...then lemon and sugar, or chocolate spread, or alcohol, or cream, or fruit, or yoghurt, or any combination of the above...

....anything really, as long as those pancakes are hot!
