The Ceroc Scotland Competition 2009
The MacRobert Pavilion
Friday 18th September (pre-comp freestyle),
Saturday 19th September (competition and 2 room party).
We will also be having a Strictly Sunday afternoon Tea-dance on Sunday 20th September, with all proceeds from this event, too, being added to the total amount.
Charities chosen for previous years:
2002 - Red Cross
2003 - Cancer Research UK
2004 - PBC Foundation
2005 - Barnardos
2006 - Debra
2007 - Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres
2008 - Aberlour Childcare Trust
I am now looking for nominations for the charity for this year's event.
Please post them here
Thanks
Sheena

Although the date was a typo Tiggerbabe, I think the Aberlour Childcare Trust is an excellent charity to promote, so why not do it again as it helps the children and their families who reside in Scotland.
if you love the life you live then you'll get a lot more done
Oops! Fixed it

Aberlour would be a great one to do again, but if you're looking for new suggestions, what about Waverley Care?
Woefully underfunded, and doing some great work:

as we have not done an animal one, how about : the SSPCA ...

wow, neg rep for suggesting a charity - cheers dep . lol
What about
Guide Dogs for the Deaf ?
National Deaf Children's Society?
I may be biased as i am deaf but charities that help Deaf people get overlooked all the time.
:Sigh: just neg rep me now...
Something strikes the ironic humour in me: deaf charities find it hard to be heard.
{ sorry, I couldn't help it - My kids are learning sign, and I support it fully,... I'm just a twisted person. }
deaf people do have a sense of humour you know
we taught sign (makaton) to our first 2 , and they used sign far quicker than actual speech - which makes sense i suppose, the voice being something that is later to develop than hand movement.
Hey all
How about Fibromyalgia UK? I'll check if there are any Scotland equivalents. Fibromyalgia is a very debillitating chronic condition of widespread pain. There are many many different symptoms linked to this. Is is thought that maybe upto 10% of the caucasion poplution have it, but as yet the causes not known.
Other charity nominations are all very worthy too.
Another idea off the top of my head is Classic FM Music Makers or are there any dance related ones? Dance school for underpriveledged people or something?
I think I would like to see a Scottish charity that helps people through out Scotland - preferably in some form of activity or movement based way.
I don't know how much work is involved, but perhaps a "trust" could be set up that charities could apply to rather than picking one? Just a thought.
Thanks for all the suggestions
The charity we've chosen for 2009 is Alzheimer Scotland.
