I have noticed that Ceroc have now announced the dates for next year’s weekenders. Does this mean that the planned refurbishments have been delayed? I also noticed that they have not started taking bookings yet does that mean that these events still might not go ahead?

    Anyone got any idea?

    Hi Maxine,

When I was speaking to HQ re Bliss a couple of weeks ago, they were just waiting for Pontins to sign the contract re 2011 weekends. One would presume that if a contract has been signed, then it's binding. It'd be very foolish to publish dates then not host events then.

Well that sounds like good news. I thought 2011 was going to be a very bleak year weekenderwise but things are looking up

This site will keep everyone updated on the progress at Southport.

Sadly as items 5f & 5g of the minutes state, it appears that there will be no more weekenders held after the development.

That is very sad and an end of an era. Possibly a little short sited of them, as I am sure these outside events bring in a financial boost in off season.

    Really sad to hear that.

There is a "have your say" section on the site, so we should all contact them to express our disapproval that they will not be allowing events.

Re: Pontins Investing £50m (the future of Camber & Southport)

I see car parking has double at Camber from £10 to £20

The cheapest accommodation for an individual at Breen is £164!

    The irony of it all

The funny think is , people stay in the UK in a recession come when these things are re built we will all be going abroad again.

Could we say most people who dance are nice and are not likely to trash the apartment or give security verbal . Who can forget the ‘learning how to play Bridge’ weekender riots.

Yes, I seem to remember it all started when you went joy riding in the champion bridge players mobility scooter. You really must start hiring your own one this year Stewart...it's getting embarrassing.

Actually, the school 'Chess championships' are held at Camber each year (my kids school used to have a team).. I wonder if they'll be axed too?

It does seem such a shame that the minute the place is done up, to a standard we'd all like, we won't be able to go any more

At Southport they have been having the Southport Soul Weekender which has been running for at least 25 years nearly as long as the Caister Soul weekender.

I am sure that the noise from this event is very loud and may well be a reason why they are stopping the weekend events.

Such a pity as they and the MJ events have brought so much enjoyment to so many over the years

The resort didn't seem that close to residential properties for the noise to be an issue.
