with bells on!
I've been keeping an eye on the website as I was determined to get there in May (didn't get to Southport at all last year), so checked in at lunchtime, and saw it was on sale. Texted my friend to tell her the prices. Saw Lory's post and checked again about 2 hours later, and several chalets were already "on hold". Finally got to speak to my friend tonight, and booked whilst we spoke - all the Club 1 beds were already on hold
I assume that some will become available again when more men book (the first ones to go on hold were chalets for 5 or 6 women), but I can't quite believe the scramble to get booked for this.
Anyway, I am booked, and looking forward to it already
(Makes note to pack scrubbing brush, scented candles and own sheets and to leave behind any expectation of functioning bathroom doors...)

Mike Ellard haad announced on Saturday that the plan was to "do-up" some 80-odd chalets, so i think there's no plan for the whole site to be anything like complete by May.

Fairly encouraging stuff I think.
I wonder which room they use?The camps already cater for all-comers, hosting clairvoyant weekends and the "mardi gras of the north" at Southport. Langsam rattles off a list of special events organised by birdwatchers, chess players – and there had even been a swingers event. What? The dancers? "No, the sex bit," he admits. "You've got to get away from the idea that Pontins is for working-class people and [the camps] are downmarket. The reality is that all sorts of different things go on."

To be honest,
If they just ripped out all the carpets and did the basic maintenence (window seals, door seals, lick of paint it would be a whole lot better.
