They're all grown-ups and there is no rule that says you need a willy to be able to lead Modern Jive or bosom to be able to follow.
But what about the men that want to follow? Do we manly folk have to start wearing dresses?

I'm not sure about wearing dresses, But I get the feeling there might be a few women that would happily take the lead if we dress as Firemen.

Dresses are optional. I think the decision to lead or follow is based on tightness of underwear and level of chafing

They need more time to make themselves look presentable?

At the last few freestyles I have been at the early arrivals amongst the first 20 have been predominately men. 16-4 has been the usual sort of balance. Two of the first few women that regularly arrived early were willing to accept my invitation to be first on the floor, which is why my counting stopped about that point.

Like bigd and Steven, I'd have said there are more men earlier on.

I think it depends on the relative experience levels of men and women at a freestyle.
