If you are coming on your own and would like to join in with my friends and I you are very welcome. We are just looking into it all at the moment. It would be nice if we could find a B&B to accept us all. At the moment there are definitely four of us that I know of, I am hoping Toasti might come, but she may be away, if not that would make five and with yourself six that I know of from South of the Border......of course there may be more which would be even better.
The workshops and milongas are taking place in Treviot Row House, The Festival Cafe, The Hub, and the Counting House. If any of our Scottish friends could let me know where these are in relation to the centre or outskirts of the city we could then work out where would be the best location to stay in. If anyone could make any recommendations about cheap, clean and cheerful places that would be great.
Many thanks

This is run by a couple of our Edinburgh dancers, I'm not sure if they have rooms available for these dates, but their guest house is well situated for public transport and is also not too far from either the airport or Haymarket Railway Station.

All these venues are in the Newington/Old Town area of Edinburgh. There are loads of B&Bs/Hotels on this side of town - no idea about prices though. If you're getting the train up, they are within about a mile (or so) of Waverley Station (about 20-30mins walk - up hill :S) although there are plenty of buses up The Bridges to Newington, or there are always taxis.
Unfortunately, it's also on the wrong side of the City and with all the road works going on, might make the journeys back and forth a bit of a pain?
Hope this helps
Aurion and I have booked for the festival
We went for the "Maxi 4" option which gets you into four workshops, the cafe on Sat and Sun daytime, the Summer Ball on Saturday night, as well as two other milongas for just £99 each!!! Bargain or what???
We've gone for the workshops that are suitable for Improvers, so will hopefully cope with everything alright. With the way the workshops have been organised, we'll be experiencing all the teachers - always a good way to keep you on your toes
I can't wait for this now....everyone in our class is talking about it....as well as other forumites.
So, who else has booked?
Oh, felt I should add.....The roadworks in central Edinburgh are horrendous....If you are needing to book accomodation, make it as close to the venues as possible - The Meadows/Newington/South Side etc are perfect as it means you don't need to cross town at all.

Are you guys doing any of the Monday workshops? I'm now not sure what to do about my booking...I'm actually thinking about cancelling it completely and going away for the weekend instead...I've got a week to decide before I need to confirm....
You can't NOT go!!!!! Yes, we're doing the Ganchos workshop with Jenny and Ricardo on Monday. Also, two workshops on Saturday and one on Sunday (the floorcraft one). Basically all the Improver level ones. We'll also be hanging out at the cafe getting some relaxed practice in between workshops on the Sat and Sun.
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make this now!
It really sounds like it's going to be a fantastic event. I hope you all have a great time! And I want to hear all about it afterwards
*runs away crying *

I am very frustrated by this - it goes on until Monday night! However can I attend that?! There is just not enough leave in one leave year to cover all dancing requirements!
I'm trying to figure out the best package for me, as I can only attend Friday night through to Sunday lunchtime/early afternoon. Unfortunately most of the workshops seem to be late afternoon/early evening.
I'm hoping I can squeeze myself into the improver category, despite my limited tango experience. Whether I can get on as a sole follower is obviously a different thing altogether!
Decisions, decisions...
I hope you can make it, at least for part of the weekend. The cafe is on throughout Sat and Sun, so plenty of opportunities to dance - as well as the parties. You should try to get in as a follower - there's even a workshop on Sunday afternoon (2-3.30pm) which is for women/follows only!...
You know you want to
So who's going?
Aurion and I will be around for most of the weekend, doing workshops and the Milongas, so come over and say hello if you see us. The "Who's going where" thread should have an option for the festival, so pop your name there so people can know who to look out for
I'm REALLY looking forward to this now
Well after starting the thread, and trying to plan for the time off I just can't make it away from home this weekend. Have a great time everyone, and please let us know what is like.
I would like to say that after having met, and been taught by Jenny and Ricardo at Easter, I think you Scottish Tangueros and Tangueras are so lucky. They are coming to Cheshire Tango hopefully in November so will catch them then.
Enjoy
