    Download a video from Facebook

There are some private videos on a Facebook Group site, where I am a member, that I would like to download in permanent form.

Can anybody explain how this can be done.

    Thanks.

Some videos can be downloaded by installing the Firefox browser and a browser extension to capture files.

    and pick from the add-ons.

Yeah. I've got DownloadHelper installed. Never used it though...

I only downloaded it last night, so haven't had a chance to really explore it fully but its FREE and only takes a second or two to d/l, so have a go, you've got nothing to loose

I installed Firefox just to use downloadhelper. I have used it to save many clips from youtube. It uses .flv (Flash video) format. There is another add-on that can convert the .flv files to mpeg, viewable in Microsofts video player (and others).

I did use it to save videos from facebook, but I do not know if it works on all on there, which is why I did not say more. (+ I needed to get some sleep)

As it is a group you might not know the person so you can go with the other suggestions. If it was a friend I'd probably get them to send the original. I'd hate to think that people download the Facebook version of photos I upload when they could get a much better version if they wanted .

Be careful about googling fb video downloader scripts for ff. There are a lot of naughty script kiddies out there who write malware and post it on Greasemonkey (where most of the scripts are hosted)
