    Thanks all for the nice comments. Yes it is pronounced ay-lay and yes if you put a C on the beginning it could be a Scottish dance event

    Its Gaelic not Welsh, Welsh would be impossible to pronounce

    Fi and Eilidh are very happy and healthy but are having a night of peace and quiet in the hospital . I've had a Whisky to celebrate .

    Well you do have a point, which is why i emphasized it was Ceilidh without the C

    to be more exact though, the first syllable is "eh?" as in an exclamation of non-comprehension, and the second is the "ly" at the end of "friendly".
