    Who's going where ? Weekend 19th/20th/21st December 2008

    I'm curious ...

If I can't advertise Adam's events in the other forum where rules specifically state adverts will be removed, can I post here?

No, advertising is not allowed on the forum.

You may not post adverts on the forum. Events & classes can be discussed and links supplied as a reply to a specific request, provided the requests are not artificially manufactured by organisers or friends. Any 'reviews' posted by organisers or crew will also be deemed to be advertising and removed at the discretion of the Ceroc Scotland Forum team.

    So, who is going where??

Am in Shrewsbury on Sun, so anywhere sensibly close to W Mids on the Saturday would be good... Anything funky happening??

    Thank U.

ok , its only that it says on the social bit that one can;t post events, wasn't sure if it applied here.

What about an event organisers forum or thread, just to allow organisers one place to post their events ?

I'm sure we've got about 3 other threads about this already, haven't we?

I see a Scottish one, which is nice and clear, and an "Xmas" one which has all sorts of stuff in it and is very confusing...

Do we have a usual-format, informative who's going where poll/thread for this weekend?

If not, would someone please recommend me any W Mids events, please? I know Jive + is doing one. Is Debbie doing one? Anyone/anywhere else?

    Thank you.

    Re: Who's going where ? Weekend 19th/20th/21st December 2008

Normally David Y is first off the mark with the poll. Unless I'm missing it we could easily just collect the data on this thread and hop that a friendly mod turns it into a poll tomorrow perhaps. If I'm wrong I'll submit myself for a ritual flogging at a time and place of the mods' choosing

So lifted from one of the previous polls...........

    Who's going where? Weekend 19th/20th/21st December 2008
Here is the "Who's Going Where?" thread for the weekend of 19th/20th/21st December 2008.

    ---------------------------------------------
    How it works:
    1. Suggest events you personally are interested in attending, in the form "Day - Event - Location".
For example: "Sat - Glasgow Christmas Party (Ceroc Scotland) - Rutherglen Town Hall (Glasgow)"
    2. The moderators will put these suggestions into a poll - usually around Tuesday.
Note: The poll may include "DO NOT VOTE" options, which allow the mods to add events in order after the poll is created - but only if no-one's voted on them. So, please ...er... don't vote on them.
    3. People vote, we can all see who's going where, and the indecisive amongst us can decide where to dance.
Note: no advertising: The forum rules about advertising apply - these polls are not meant to allow organisers / crew / friends to advertise events. The moderators will remove any such posts.
    ---------------------------------------------

I'm dancing again after a few painful weeks with a slipped disc and I will be attending:

Fri - "Red Hot & Blue" (Demon Dance Co) - Harvester Centre (Edinburgh)

Not sure if I'll manage 5 hours of dancing but I'll give it my best shot!

Robin, you can't advertise anyone's events (quite rightly - Franck is not running a forum to support advertising for competitors) but you can indicate if you are attending one of them personally.

I future, do we really need so many individual threads about up and coming events?
Personally I find it confusing and its hell trying to make a poll, so I'm not going to this week, as I'm going away and so I don't care!

No we don't. One single poll with all of the events for the week is enough as far as I'm concerned. I never realised there were so many threads

Because there were so many threads already, I deliberately didn't start a thread this week - see my posts here and here.

People had already contributed loads of events for this weekend to Fletch's thread, and there was already a nice list, so it seemed pointless to start another one.

I did contemplate starting a new thread so people would spot it, telling people not to post on it, but I could see that not working either.

Unfortunately polls are limited to 25 options and there are more than 25 events on over Xmas.

Plus, this forum is not a directory service - there are plenty of other sites listing events, for example Lynda's List.

Point taken over the festive period. At other times of the year a single poll seems adequate. Taken individually the single event threads could look like publicity

    STRANGE
But its gone round many times.

How do members find out about events, if organisers cant tell anyone in a simple form??

I know where I shall be this Saturday but not on SCD.

is there a space of organisers really on the forum??
Even friends "organise" people to go places!
