I've posted this before, but it is a useful link for getting Modern Jive clips on YouTube
MJ Clips on YouTube
Interesting new one of doing a cabaret for Sarah Johnson's birthday. I might be biased, but I like lifts in cabarets.
Well, I rather like of Simon and Nicole. Smooth.
Anyone know who these two are.Obv both called Adam.
Was pretty good.

Ok, maybe I am being a bit harsh, It has some good parts as well as not so good:
We are now so used to seeing a high level of WCS. Some of the better parts were dare I say it...nearer to WCS. Some of the lifts were good.
It was the not so good that caught my attention:
1:40...music changes, but dance carries on at same pace. This happens at other times as well.
1:52...Sort of a lift. It just has bad lines as the lady seems to be dragged around behind the man. (John Sergeant springs to mind).
2:24...music changes again with accents that are ignored.
2:38...Another ugly lift. I have seen this done before. An otherwise eligant dancer is made to look very inelegant when lifted above the head in a sitting position with legs open in a short dress. She might have got away with straight legs.
I love old soul music; it has a real feel that simple is not expressed in this routine. As DB said, perhaps it was originally for a different track.
Salsa, WCS, Tango etc have a very high standard of cabaret. With a few exceptions, I can't help feeling that MJ has a very long way to go to get the same kind of recognition and respect. It is great for what it is...a fun easy to learn social dance.
I think that the standard of MJ cabarets has dropped in recent years - there's still the exceptional cabaret but there's not the depth there used to be. This is especially noticeable in terms of musicality. One of the reasons I believe this is happening is that many people become good MJ dancers and then migrate to other dances. In years gone by this migration was a slow trickle to Lindy Hop. However, there's now AT and WCS to attract the better dancers.
I know it's a little self indulgent but I wanted to kick this thread back to life a little as I think it has some worth seperate from the other youtube thread which is now mainly WCS
I did put together a Modern Jive playlist a while ago with a few clips.

I haven't really searched all the MJ clips in YouTube, so there may be some good stuff I've missed.
Ceroc Canada is coming along nicely - other clips can be found using David B's search string
("Modern Jive" OR "Le bop" OR "Jive Nation" OR Ceroc OR Leroc OR Lebop OR LeJive OR Jivenation) - "Kele Leroc"
