In the lands of the North,

where the Black Rocks stand guard against the cold sea, in the dark night that is very long the Men of the Northlands sit by their great log fires and they tell a tale.

    Oliver Postgate has died!

I actually feel quite emotional about that.

Noggin the Nog - I loved well still love the story and the whole animation and sound thing.
Take a visit to the Northlands if you wish.
Bagpuss - never really hit the spot but well loved
    Pogles wood - nuff said
    Ivor the Engine.

I'm going to have a little moment of quiet now and compose myself!

Apparently the Clangers was fully scripted in English but played on a swany whistle.
One of those lines had Major Clanger saying “Sod it, the bloody thing’s stuck again!” look see

A very sad day - I think we should have a national day of mourning.

I hope this means that we will have some sort of retrospective. Back to back Pogles Wood or Nogin the Nog would be great.

    Oliver Postgate is dead.

I'm not devastated, but I am sad.

I can conjure up the sound of his voice in my imagination - that English, matter of fact narration - whether it is Ivor the Engine, Noggin the Nog, or Pogles Wood that I am remembering. It soothes me, and takes me back to lazy afternoons in the summer holidays from school; his programmes were always my favourites on Watch with mother.

    RIP.

Just found this, for those of you who are too young...

I heard that on the news today and it did make me chuckle, especially when you here the clanger version.

Oh i loved the clangers. They were sort of end of the kids programmes after school before the boring news came on. I loved bagpuss too when i was younger.

One thing i have noticed, the older i get, the more people are dying.

    It's not quite right that

More people aren't dying - it's just you know who they are.
