Yep - that's exactly why they're miserable. 10 years of baking other people cakes to celebrate their birthdays and what do I get?

SFA...no card, no cake, not even a 'Happy Birthday'

Miserable ba****ds - no more cakes from me

Well if it is any of the cake that I have sampled at Soputhport, I'd say it's their loss in long run.

Hope other than that you had a very happy birthday

    Reminds me of a saying that I use far too often;

"No matter how nice you are to people, some folk are just c*nts".

A "ping" in my right calf on Saturday morning that blew my eagerly-anticipated weekend danceathon right out of the water

Currently it is not looking too promising that I will be able to make Friday's Utopia

And then, on Sunday evening, as if I wasn't feeling sufficiently sorry for myself already, when I should have been munching my way through Wendy's legendary cakes at Funky Lush, I managed to give myself food poisoning.

Result - a major kick start to the diet (that I wouldn't recommend to anyone) - and an upaid day off work yesterday to recover.

Re: What Made You Frown Today

    Sorry...rant mode coming up.

Went into the chemist today with a prescription. My Dr was supposed to prescribe 2 lots of the medicine I needed because it's half the price on prescription than if you buy it over the counter.

My Dr had made a mistake and only put 1 lot on the prescription so I checked that I could get it over the counter and just said I would buy one and get the other one on prescription. "hang on" he says "I'll just check that we've got some in". Off he goes out the back and brings back 2 lots of what I need "Yes we've got 2" he says, holding them in his hand. "Ok" say's I "I'll have those then". "I can only sell you this one, you'll have to come back for the other one as there's a half hour wait for prescriptions". "But you have them in your hand, right there in front of the till". "Sorry, there are others in front of you, you'll have to wait".

Even the people in the queue were shaking their heads in disbelief at how ridiculous this was. I should have just ripped up the prescription and bought 2 lots to save time, but I didn't. Anything to save a fiver.

    Sorry...rant over.

Being self centred at the detriment of those "SuPposed" to be close to you is a very unattractive quality

Nadine Dorries, Conservative MP of Embryology Bill infamy, is attempting to "improve" sex education by giving girls abstinence education.

    Only educating girls, mind!
    And only promoting abstinence!
Honestly, sex education is already enough of a fail (or at least it failed for me) without trying to tell young people that, in effect, having sex is wrong.

    Grr!

Ah yes, Nadine Dorries. The paragon of moral virtue who left her husband (he has MS) then carried on with a married man.

    The one with... interesting... expenses.

The one - well, hell, basically she's a nutter.

She's clearly the best choice to lead a moral crusade.

That is really sad. Even if they do keep the ballroom (it could be good for corporate events/weddings) the chances of Ceroc being able to afford it are probably remote as the rents will go up.

As more and more of these places disappear, I wonder where events will be held in the future? I have often wondered if it would be feasible for Ceroc to have it's own dedicated dance studio somewhere in London - for it's exclusive use by night, and possibly rented out during the day. I remember when they were running 3 or 4 nights during the week at Jongleurs in Clapham thinking that they could almost take the place over.

Finding out that the number of applicants for the last SLT job I applied for had almost doubled compared to the number of applicants for jobs in the autumn; with fewer jobs advertised and the next lot of undergraduates finishing this week, it's not looking promising.

Logical steps to the process? No
Jumping around from point to point? Yes

Yesterday, my upstairs neighbour concluding that life was no longer worth living - and ending it in such as way that the police and his parents had to break the door down and then spend six hours virtually dismantling the flat.

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you know him?
